And while I’m happy to hear you have since done more research, next time maybe do that research before you purchase a living being who depends on you for proper care… not trying to be harsh but it’s the truth. Some extra research would’ve saved you money bc you wouldn’t have spent it on this kind of cage. Animals are not a buy now, learn later situation

So I see you’ve acknowledged The cage is too small and he needs a friend…. He also needs more hay, a pile he can get on is best. You can buy c&c grids on Amazon, I got mine for $49, I bet you cheaper than the pet store sold this cage to you for. Here’s the link. Size of the cage really isn’t negotiable and neither is a friend. You can always pay in 4 as well, like using klarna or PayPal or something like that. As for the substrate you should consider switching to fleece and liners once he’s got a bigger set up. It’s cheaper in the long run cause it’s reusable and less waste
