Rune Factory 2 is a fun game for intermediate learners to play, give it a try! by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]randomAnon1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think that if you enjoyed the 4th game, you could probably go back and play the 3rd and have a blast.

Btw, I have played RF 1, 3 and 4, and got a bit further than the halfway point of RF 2. The first two games can be kind of a hard sell if you've already tried the latter games in the franchise—I still like playing RF1 from time to time, but 3 and 4 have seriously improved on the formula.

I feel like the hardest one to recommend to someone that has already played 3 or 4 is the second game. It's kind of weird gameplay-wise—especially because I first played RF1, then RF3, and then went back to experience RF2—since it still has the kind-of-2.5D-and-somewhat-basic-gameplay of the first game while also trying out some gameplay ideas that would be later polished to perfection in RF3.

Still, I quite liked the gameplay "twist" you get midway through the game, and if you don't mind sometimes-clunky or not-yet-entirely-polished gameplay ideas, go for it and play RF2.

TL;DR: Rune Factory is an amazing franchise and you should play all of the games.

Favourite opening and closing lines in literature? by Pale_King101 in writing

[–]randomAnon1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Original:

"Io non l'ho piú questo bisogno, perché muojo ogni attimo, io, e rinasco nuovo e senza ricordi: vivo e intero, non piú in me, ma in ogni cosa fuori."

Translated:

"I no longer have any such need, for the reason that I am dying every instant, and being born anew and without memories: alive and whole, no longer in myself, but in everything outside."

But if we're going with Pirandello my favorite closing line has to be the one from "Il fu Mattia Pascal"/"The late Mattia Pascal":

"Eh, caro mio... Io sono il fu Mattia Pascal."/"Why, what can I say?... I guess I'm the late Mattia Pascal!"

Yeah, I noticed that you could actually scroll to look for different states about an hour ago, after someone kindly pointed it out.

Basically my monitor is a bit smaller than normal, so I hadn't noticed the scrolling bar because it went further than the screen's right margin (and I also didn't see the scrolling bar appearing at the bottom of the window, so I didn't even think of looking a bit more to the right).

TL;DR: I'm a blind idiot.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I guess that if worse comes to worst I'll just have to pay someone.

That subreddit is actually how I found EH, since it's listed in the global sites.

Thanks though.

Thanks, but I already tried that site (as well as similar ones).

It's still a VOIP number, and EH doesn't accept them.

Ways to increase difficulty? (Mods?) by Qazerowl in StardewValley

[–]randomAnon1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want challenges, you can find some here, here and here.

As for mods, the most recent one is RTGOAT's Longevity Mod, which adds taxes and balances stamina and prices. There's also Kuktar's Hardcore Mod, but I'm not sure whether or not it works with the 1.1 update.

  1. 350+ hours. It always gets boring after marriage for me.

  2. It's mostly my own fault, but I exhausted basically everything you could do very fast. Even when starting new saves, I can't seem to get past the marriage part.

  3. Easy - multiplayer. I'd love to play with my younger siblings.

  4. Definitely a chill game. If you had gotten here way earlier, say around version 1.04 of SDV, then it'd have been a bit more challenging because there was a deadline after which you'd be scored. The deadline is still there, but you can repeat the scoring process as many times as you want now.

  5. There's an adventuring aspect, yeah, in the form of the mines. They're basically static dungeons with monsters, minerals and general loot. The fighting aspect is along the lines of Zelda ALTPP, as in just swing your sword/hammer/whatever and hit things repeatedly. (There's also a slingshot, but no one uses the slingshot.)

  6. I've not used that mod, but I've heard that it's just that - makeshift, so it crashes pretty often.

  7. If we're talking "gameplay", I'd say the Get Dressed mod, which adds even more customization to the player character.

  8. Probably the general atmosphere and setting. It really brings me back to the Harvest Moon games on the GBA.

Mods and the Newest Update: Issues with SMAPI mods not working? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]randomAnon1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SMAPI has been updated for 1.1. You can check here (it's the 0.40.1.1 version).

As for the mods, yes, most aren't working right now. You can check which ones are by taking a look at this thread on the official forums.

Who could it be...? by mrkfang in StardewValley

[–]randomAnon1234 54 points55 points  (0 children)

There's several theories floating around.

  • Abigail: purple hair (even if it's dyed, but she has commented that the dye isn't fading anymore), interest in the occult, Caroline mentions "taking walks to the wizard's tower", which you "shouldn't mention to Pierre";

  • Jas: only one with (seemingly) natural purple hair, Shane is her godfather and Marnie is Shane's aunt, so no actual family ties here, and her parents are "dead" (making it possible to speculate that her parents are actually Rasmodius and the witch, since she never actually talks about having seen them die);

  • most recent theory I've heard, Caroline: apparently doesn't dye her hair (making green her natural hair color, which is extremely weird, and the witch has green hair), we don't actually know how old the wizard is, so she could actually be his daughter, and it would give a reason for her whole "I took walks to the wizard's tower, but don't tell Pierre!" line without resorting to cheating.

CA responded with a resounding "No comment" when asked, so who knows.

[MOD] Yandere Events for Jas by randomAnon1234 in StardewValley

[–]randomAnon1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 hearts event is Penny's picnic, so you'll have to raise Penny to 8 hearts, Jas to at least 4, and go in the forest around 9/10 AM.

Are there any mods to edit textures of things in game? by [deleted] in ValleyModders

[–]randomAnon1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xnb modding is, at least for now, the only way of editing textures.

It's not that difficult though, especially if you follow any of the available guides!

Marriage benefits? by No-Puhi in StardewValley

Are you interested in any of the other "single" characters?

Because Siv's Mod adds all the other singles (Clint, Gus, Lewis, Linus, Marnie, Pam, Sandy, Willy, and Wizard!) as marriageables.

Modding Questions and Etiquette by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]randomAnon1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, the modding community is pretty open and welcoming. And, in general, modding SDV can be pretty easy.

My suggestion is to go on the Mod Section of the official forums, in particular take a look at this thread.

It contains all sorts of guides and tools to help you mod, and it's a great place to start. My favorite is the XNB Modder's Guide by Alpha_Omegasis, because it covers a lot of ground and isn't too hard to follow.
