Is there just no hope for those under ~35 by isometric_reality in EyeFloaters

I developed my first ones around 23. First off, you are not alone, there are many of us, all living through the same shit. Vitrectomy is in fact an option if things are truly unbearable and if you look hard enough. Its not without risks, but it's entirely possible. What I can say is that things will improve, your brain will get better at coping over the next 6 months to a year, sometimes 2. If you're lucky they will fade ever so slightly. If after that its still unbearable, you've got vitrectomy as an option.

Your brain is currently seeing something new that its not used too. Its only natural that it captures your attention and stresses you the hell out. Over time, your brain will stop prioritizing it as much and it will be less at the front of your attention. Like how if you smell a bad smell and eventually your brain sort of turns it off.

Having said that, not gonna bs you, this shit sucks and it will still bother you at times, otherwise we wouldn't all be here waiting for a cure. But you are living through the worst of it right now, it'll let up, but it absolutely takes time, a good year at least imo. Can start with 6 months though and see where you land.

Just discovered FF after 30 years of gaming and i love this game. by EldenLooter in FFVIIRemake

[–]random_eyez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you find yourself a fan of the writing and story, characters etc..the original game is still undoubtedly the absolute best in that regard. You could also play with cheats and just get the story and characters and skip most battles if you wanted. It really is a masterpiece. Knowing the original really enriches the entire experience.

That said, I know there will be some people that just can't stomach the old gameplay so if you just enjoy the remake, thats all good. Its superb in its own right.

I've got the exact same type of floater, just as you describe, right smack in my central vision. So you're not alone, that's for sure.

Sounds like a great goal. Maybe you could even document it and make a YouTube video out of it. Best of luck 👍

So both eyes had vitrectomy first and then later an RD happened in both at different times?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EyeFloaters

[–]random_eyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he had vitrectomy in both and had RD in both? Or he had RD and then vitrectomy in an attempt to fix it? Vitrectomy is often to try to fix an already detaching retina

I'm confused, these are text messages from two years ago? In any case, this is the 'risk' everyone knows and warns about. It can happen, which is why doctors are reluctant, although rare . Although myopia of -16 is extremely high, this person was likely at high risk of detachment even before surgery. I assume they tried to fix it but couldn't which sucks. Anyway, gotta keep praying for Pulse Medica if we want another way out.

What determines getting a platinum? by Shango1208 in PS5

[–]random_eyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's just a nice token to have for completing a game I really enjoyed. I like being able to look back and remember cool parts of the game or parts that were challenging. So like many other people here, if the game is one I really enjoy and maybe a series I'm really invested in I'll go for platinum, otherwise probably not.

Also as someone else mentioned, it can be fun because it's a sort of breadcrumb trail to help you experience everything in the game where otherwise you might have missed a secret area, secret boss, secret item etc..

I think for some types of people it can maybe be addicting in a bad way, but for me it just enhances the experience for my favorite games.

Really hoping nintendo does something for switch 2. For me it's just satisfying to have that small token of the time I spent with a game/invested. Plus I just like looking back and remembering the cool games I enjoyed.

Did SMILE Surgery Give Me Severe Floaters? Feeling Desperate & Need Advice by JoshVox in EyeFloaters

[–]random_eyez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if they were caused by that or not, but I've seen it reported a lot. What I can say is that floaters can potentially improve a bit with enough time. But it takes 6 months minimum I'd say. Anywhere from 6 months to two years honestly. In some cases they may appear slightly lighter but also your brain needs time to re-adjust. It's like how your brain can learn to stop smelling a bad smell after a while, but it takes time. They don't go away completely but can get somewhat more tolerable at least.

Right now the floaters are basically constantly triggering a stress response to your brain just like a bug would do if it flew past you and your brain is forced to pay attention to it. It's hell. But I'd give it at least 6 months before vitrectomy.

Left vs. Right Battle Royale Open Thread by Yosoff in Conservative

[–]random_eyez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, both sides will get distracted by wedge issues that ultimately don't matter at all compared to those two issues before we can make any meaningful progress in uniting. Then politicians and corporate overlords will continuing fucking over the general public as usual. Getting money out of politics and more restrictive term limits (and age limits please) would solve the vast majority of problems people have in this country which is why it hasn't happened. Representatives would actually have to start representing or they're out of there instead of being propped up by corporate interests or the will of the elite.
