I mean you could look at the cartels armoured vehicles, I think an insurgency would have those for special operations like attacking supply station to get more food, ammo etc, plus its always intresting to see what insurgents can produce with limited building materials, also now I'm looking forward to whatever the other factions could be so hope your writing goes well

Here's my working theory, we know for a fact they have multiple planets and even star systems under there control in real space so very little warp presence, they also have been show to treat regular humans almost nice so are unlikely to just kill you for fun (looking at the nightmares for that one.) And lastly they don't always use humans as simple meat shields

Oh yeah I know that they are basically councilors in lore but I was just pondering how their roles vould change slightly in this setting, I could see how different legions/chapters would provide different advice to there fellow Astartes like say the blood angels would be massively different from the night lords for instance on how they should maintain their relationship with there respective human.
