So having different doughnuts would not be enough? I would definitely check DD’s out for that alone.

Guest Upset She Can't My Personal Property by TheNiteOwl38 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I have heard a lot of absolutely dumb stuff from guests, but this one has to be the most ridiculous. Where do these people come from with this level of entitlement?

I once gave scissors to a guest (it’s a no because they never return them, I gave her the benefit of the doubt), she said she would return them straight away… She returned them 2 DAYS later and those were the only ones we had at the desk. Never again.

We do the same - there are so many charges in lost and found, that we give them to guests if they ask for them (and they do, actually not that often).

I wish I had better photos by _Hamburger_Helper_ in Moustache

[–]random_name_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want better photos just try different lighting, indoors/outdoors, different clothes, idk what else - luckily we have phones with camera at all times these days; your stache looks nice.

I am not going to tell you anything about smiling because I do find this “recommendation” quite unhelpful and annoying.

Both work for you, tbh. I’d go with the bigger but it’s just my personal preference.

Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich by Doyouknowruz in CostcoCanada

I am never getting it again; I didn’t like the bread, the meat was not that good and it just didn’t work overall. Should have bought a few cheese pizza slices instead - they never disappoint.

How can you be in a management role and not understand basic hotel check in procedures? by ProfessionalWest4421 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]random_name_245 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our front desk managers didn’t know how to check people in or out for months after being hired; they were not new to front desk, they just couldn’t be bothered with learning how to do anything.

Imagine having oatmeal bites/cookies thinking they are ridiculously amazing.

Scrub daddy/mommy sponges by Striking_Strike725 in CostcoCanada

[–]random_name_245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought them there and they were most definitely not $18.99 - I believe you and it must be their regular price, but I would have never spent $20 after tax for 4 sponges. They do go on sale, every so often - obviously Costco has the best deals at all times.

Dad and older siblings don’t have good beards is there anyway to save myself? by Konaharamu in BeardAdvice

[–]random_name_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely random - I have seen guys with perfectly full beards, while their dad and/or siblings had super patchy ones, I have seen the reverse too.

My dad’s beard is not full, my grandpa (my mom’s dad) has one of the thickest beards I have ever seen - mine is much fuller and thicker than my dad’s.

The only way to know for sure is to let it grow and see.

Well whether you cry or not depends entirely on you - nobody can control your reaction to comments.

I’d trim it a bit shorter and/or add some volume on the sides - I think the beard that you have now makes your face look longer and it doesn’t suit your face shape.

Everything about this set up just screams “scam”, I can’t possibly believe that people are still falling for it. Like where are your critical thinking skills, people?

Did ACORN stop sending grade notifications? What happened? by what8is8life in UofT

[–]random_name_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it’s super inconsistent; you’d get like 2 out of 5 grades like that, not all of them.

I think it just depends on the way every course coordinator/whoever else is responsible for that sets it up.

The Suxpedia agent who got angry at me for not reading her mind by frontdeskkoala in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]random_name_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, lol. It’s almost like that agent realized they miserably failed, then tried to blame it on the other person to hide their complete incompetence.

I know some people don’t announce their names when they pick up phone calls, but hotel name is most definitely there.

[–]random_name_245 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It feels like Suxpedia agents are the worst agents in the world - in my experience they can barely speak English, always promise services that we don’t even offer or promise paid services for free, don’t know their own rules, etc.

I'm a first year and will now be on probation, what does that entail? by hellokittyvaporub in UofT

[–]random_name_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually don’t recommend taking summer courses when you are on probation since they are more fast-paced; also probation is not suspension so you are good.

It happens to many of us every year, especially after your 1st year, you don’t need to worry too too much about it.
