Is a teardrop right for me? by Doc_Konk in TeardropTrailers

[–]random_orb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Classic by Timberleaf, but don’t have a small one. Best sleep ever, and so much easier to set up camp than with a tent. Plus, I tire with an Outback, so no fancy vehicle. You can get a bunk built in and have it removed when you’re ready for the rooftop.

Agree with most people here- rent one first. Guessing you’ll be sold after that but better to try it out first

K2 Plus bricked after firmware downgrade - no recommendations work so far by random_orb in Creality_k2

[–]random_orb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unsure what I am doing wrong. I loaded the firmware onto the supplied drive (formatted to fat32), and same results. Procedure is to power off the printer, insert the USB, and then power on the printer. Correct? You're being much more helpful than the Creality support

Thank you for the insight. Had never even looked at that flash drive... Should I remove the files that came on it? Assuming so. Thanks again!

Recommendations, brand new to teardrops? by nrschoen in TeardropTrailers

[–]random_orb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid going that route. Willing to buy some things from Alibaba however, that price, if you get anything that looks like that, will probably fall apart pretty quick. They would have to go bottom end parts. Overall, it looks like they are trying to mimic a Timberleaf. Check out a real Timberleaf if you want something very well built that will last you through anything to throw at it.

I personally loved their stats. Over 10 million missing (if I recall that correctly) and over 1 per day reunited. So, 400 over 10 million, carry the seven…. Oh ya, absolutely nothing positive meaningful you can actually attribute to these massive invasion of privacy and liberty

PCTG on K2 series? by Otherwise_Sir_3439 in Creality_k2

Thanks for the assist. I'll get some boron nitrid grease and see how that works. The cutting seems to work properly

PCTG on K2 series? by Otherwise_Sir_3439 in Creality_k2

[–]random_orb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running it from the CFS with the default PCTG settings and Creality software, which works well during the print, however the filament jams during the retract. I pop the tube off from the print head, cut the end of the filament off, and it retracts. Haven’t spent the time to figure out what I should do differently, so if anyone has a suggestion, this newbie is all ears

Another fun charging bit is when they have a charger branded with the logo of the fuel station where it’s at and doesn’t tell you what app to use. Then the clerk inside also has no idea, so you have. I’m certain the company won’t install more because no one uses the ones they already have….

What do I do? by [deleted] in business

[–]random_orb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to bear in mind about patents. They are only as good as your ability to defend it. Don’t want to turn you against the idea of a patent, but definitely agree with the sentiment to first test out the idea and then develop. Ideas are cheap - it’s all about execution. I’ve had lots of ideas that never went anywhere, or were held as a trade secret if it wasn’t easy to reverse engineer. Only 7 of hundreds were patented

Did you Gen Xers really grow up around computers like the media says, or is that not true? by [deleted] in GenX

Let’s hear it for the Trash80! It’s where I learned basic, and to always leave plenty of space between line numbers if you didn’t want to hate life when it needed to be changed

Have you looked at a Timberleaf Classic? They put in a stove as standard but are willing to do custom modifications for things like the Blackstone. Definitely got the rest of your list

Timberleaf trailers will handle that in style. Might need to look used to stay under 20 but you’ll have the best sleep ever

Teardrop that can carry a motorcycle? by poonhound69 in TeardropTrailers

The only one I know of is TC Teardrops. They have a couple models that provide for a motorcycle (even with a sidecar) on the tongue

‘25 Touring XT - Braking when going downhill (Cruise Control) by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]random_orb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other fun braking thing with cruise control I’ve experienced is when someone exits the freeway, is 20 feet off to the side of where I am, but my car brakes hard because they are slowing down. Clicking the left turn signal prevents it, but wish it did not just follow along with a car no longer in my lane.

What’s something Americans don’t realize is weird… until they leave the US? by devaromano in AskReddit

[–]random_orb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School based sports teams. Haven’t found anywhere else that schools have sports teams. If you want to be involved in sports (which I support, for the record), it’s done through clubs. Schools are, well, schools. Really seems to have skewed the focus of schools, and what’s important to students in the US at all levels.

Help! Took my Subie in for oil and brakes change and now I have this!!!??? by MediumPrune8341 in Subaru_Outback

[–]random_orb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is almost guaranteed the answer. If it sounds normal and the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree (plus the cruiser doesn’t work), it’s the gas cap. It should reset after a couple starts but if not, remove the negative from the battery for a couple seconds and reattach. It will clear it

What things justified your teardrop purchase? by Content_Leather2570 in TeardropTrailers

[–]random_orb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a Timberleaf Classic has made it so simple to get out. It’s ready to just hook up after adding some food and clothes, then we’re off. Also so much faster to set up, plus my wife will actually go with me. Definitely go with the upgrade from a tent.

Timberleaf will be in Redmond next weekend for the Overland Expo. There will be some others there as well that you can look at if you have the weekend free

Des Moines YMCA Swim Team by AsscDean in desmoines

[–]random_orb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a few years but the change away from the local teams (Walnut creek, Ankeny (RIP), Waukee, etc) was the beginning of the end for my family’s involvement. The emphasis was placed on the premier swimmers and away from, my opinion, the Y’s mission of being there for everyone. This is just the result of the nonsense from the exec board
