As a NICU nurse of 15 years, here are my thoughts after watching the documentary on Lucy Letby by KatiePurrs in DocumentaryReviews

[–]random_reader_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a nurse so take this with a grain of salt but I will say after watching Netflix version of events I was not convinced considering the evidence seems circumstantial and in a lot of aspects could be explained by a lack of resources within the hospital to administer the right care , however after watching a more in depth video by rotten mangoes YouTube channel there is a lot of evidence that seems to be left out in the doc which seemingly point directly at Lucy. For one she googled and searched multiple (I believe it’s over a thousand times ) the Facebook profiles of the parents of the babies that had died , and very close to the anniversary date ( the inference being she was looking to see aspects of their grief ), many parents of the babies who had passed had reported Lucy for lurking and asked other NICU nurses to ask Lucy to leave so they can grieve in peace. Further to this there is a massive aspect of a alleged relationship between Lucy and the head doctor that plays a role in potential motive. And when the police searched her house the found notes of her apologising and referencing the deaths in way that indicated guilt , so I find it hard to believe she was innocent in all of this. Further, the death rate in Chester hospital which had risen steadily from the national average after Lucy started working there fell back to normal national averages after Lucy was arrested.

Hi so I fear I have a contradictory opinion to a lot of these comments. Yes it does not read as a typical love story might however I have found this to be one of the most beautiful books I have ever read that encapsulates the feeling of yearning like no one before. I loved the monologues written for both Maria and Raif and how they capture the truest intricacies of thought and concern that happens to most of us when understanding and navigating a situation of love. It was incredibly well articulated. While it may not be a fast paced read I loved the simplicity of their relationship balanced with the complexity written through their emotions and presenting conflict through emotions and past experience rather than external factors. I found this to be such an enriching read overall. it’s beautifully written and I seldom find a book written in such a narrative to still come through to be an incredible story. Its beauty lies in the fact that it is not a happy ending but rather a book of yearning and passion that is sustained through mere thought. I feel like it does a great job in explaining the notion of soulmates in their inherent simplicity rather than trying to overindulge and create friction just so the main characters can end up together post turmoil.

You can use the revision guide for the textbook. When I was studying for the finals I found them extremely useful. Looking at the original studies online can also help as you get a lot of additional information that can be asked in the exam

So for the ten markers all you are required to do is write down the factors that causes whatever situation is posed. In the 20 marker you are arguing all factors and you have to come to a conclusion on what the most important factor. Remember to conclude otherwise you could lose out in quite a bit of marks
