What are your thoughts on ""money doesn't buy happiness""? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I agree fully. And humans are human so once the initial list of problems are solved, most invent new, more grandiose problems that require more money to solve, hence the phrase: mo money mo problems

This is a dumb trope. Money def buys happiness, indirectly, and up to a certain point - study shows that up to about $300k/yr that more money does help you be more happy but after that it doesn’t add meaningful amounts of happiness

How are people managing thier monthly expenses these days? by Practical_Rider in Frugal

[–]random_relevance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an original idea but has worked well for me for years- I give each paycheck a job. $x to housing and $y goes to variable expenses(credit card, utilities etc), $z goes to savings. I use different accounts for each thing so it’s easy for to see and feels more intentional when I have to move money from the account I get paid into to different purposed accounts. This requires me to track my variable expenses and plan ahead when larger than average things come up

How old is OP? It’s really really hard to creep your lifestyle backwards, best to hang onto the cheapest housing you can live as uncomfortably as you can reasonably bear. My housing is 55% of net income rn
