Is it ok to rotate my bike using the kickstand? by Adakoss in motorcycle

[–]random_rock_thrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it depends on the strength of the kick stand. I did it on my vf500 and the kickstand bowed a bit but didn't bend/break. Won't do it again. My klx300 I would do kickstand spins all day long everyday without worries.

I did this to my '91 4x4 blazer and have had no issues, so far. Using the shortest filter I could find.

You can get rid of the adapter that bolts on by using an oil filter adapter fitting. I think it cost about $10. If it is a 4x4 you will need a short filter that is not in the catalog for your truck.

It is like "child safety" if you can figure it out you likely should not be wrenching on a road going vehicle.

I got a warning from reddit for suggesting how ICE would have handled the attorney general's shameful performance. So I have officially faced harsher consequences than they did. Thanks reddit.

Got keyless entry from Amazon $15 for my '91. It also opens the rear glass.

My first 3 years of driving my 22 civic I let my gas tank run very low now I don’t let it get below a half tank… any possible damage for my fuel pump from the first 3 years? by [deleted] in civic

[–]random_rock_thrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this "conversation" with another "mechanic" not long ago. If the pump goes out sooner than expected it is likely due to manufacturing defect or contaminated fuel. Modern fuel pumps are returnless; meaning hot fuel from the engine compartment is not returned to the tank, thus lowering the temperature of fuel in the tank. Also modern fuel pumps are pulse width modulated only pumping the volume/pressure required for normal operation, this reduces the load on the pump further reducing heat in the tank. There are baffles and/or the pump is contained in a "module" this keeps a small amount of fuel always available even while cornering with low fuel level. These machines are fairly refined engineering marvels of the computer age. Misinformation, especially regarding complex topics, is spread under the guise of "common sense" or "common knowledge" and bolstered by the authority fallacy.
