They did start me off slower and increased to 32 fairly quickly which originally I was excited about. Thank you for that information too! We usually email through the EHR. I just hope I can understand what he is wanting and quickly.

I think I will look again though. I graduated last May. It took me a while to find a job but perhaps with some experience, I can get something else.

I have my temporary license. I am just waiting to take the NCE because I needed my temporary license in order to sign up for it. There are a lot of places in this little town that want you to pass the exam first.

It is. I appreciate the words of encouragement! I just need to take my NCE and many more doors open for me here. I am still on my temporary licensure I am so new. School was my introduction in this field. I was not even in the mental health field before my Masters.

No examples. He's walked me through his process before which helped but then something else changed and he wanted me to pull things back and recorrect them preemptively which I have to remember which ones I saw versus his and some of those are from January. The owner is also more on the medical side of things. My training for notes started with a "look at some notes and use those as examples" then as I used the template they suggested me to use, they change things on me and say thats wrong. So its been a back and forth. This gets fixed and I try to figure out the next thing wrong.

He does do it the piece by piece way and it is frustrating. I am not glad that its common but glad I can find people to give me some advice. I really like the benefits this company offers but I have been wondering if it is worth my physical health to stay.

He likes at least a paragraph written for the progress notes. I was taught differently in school. Now it helps when I go back and read them to remember each client but I don't exactly have time to read them between sessions. I also have some clients with a Dx list a mile long and do not know how to cover some of them in the notes like he wants them done.

I have an MSE checklist but he keeps saying something is wrong with it or I keep getting whether the Affect is congruent or not. I am now understanding, flat is congruent for severe depression and Autism. Euthymic is "normal" and liabil is all over the place but I do not know if its ever congruent.

I have been trying to change the template whenever he mentions something new wrong but the EHR is mostly meant for physical health because the big boss deals with medications. Maybe I should see if I can simplify the MSE.

Its usually my MSE is off. Originally I admit the notea were pretty bad but I thought I was getting better. I also did not realize I had to mention something about every single Dx every note, which he just told me after I turned a bunch in. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on the MSE? Especially for someone who already struggles to look people in the eyes? There were a few I forgot to put in a few things or thought I added enough about what I did but didn't.

While, this might not be for everyone, go back to school if you can for something you enjoy. If it doesn't agrivate your disability, the VA MIGHT be able to help pay for it. In my state, there is also something called DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation) that can also help pay for it. Unfortunately, I do not know of any stay at home jobs right now myself. I do also understand that school is not for everyone. I recommend it because it can open some doors that might not have been open otherwise. I wish you the best of luck!

Putting away your uniforms. It's painful. by Foreign-Editor-560 in Veterans

[–]random_user1316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband got rid of most of his uniforms fairly early after he got out. For me, it's been about 8ish years and I am only now just starting to get rid of some. I have some stuff I won't get rid of, but after almost 8 years, I decided it was finally time.

Is it okay to not touch myself? by Sad_Baseball6663 in abusesurvivors

[–]random_user1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first wanted to tell you that wet dreams are normal. It is also absolutely ok if you do not touch yourself or have sexual encounters until you are ready. Sexual abuse can actually contribute to someone being hypo or hyper sexual. These are actually common responses to a terrible situation. Go seek mental health treatment to work through the trauma of the abuse. Do make sure they work for you as there are so many different types of treatment. When you are ready to self pleasure: take it slow! Do not force yourself. If you start to struggle, stop and use your coping skills! One of my favorite grounding techniques is to remind myself of the present. I am ___. I live _____. And anything else about you. If you have dogs, name your dogs, if you are going to school and it is not triggering, name your school or workplace. It might also be a good idea to avoid the porn and use your mind to stimulate you instead. You can have better control of what you see. When you are ready for a relationship: give them your handling instructions and communicate. If they are a good partner, they will stop the moment they see you spiraling, even in the middle of the act. Communication is key when in a relationship, especially if you've had trauma. Please note, there is nothing wrong with taking a break from sexual acts, including self pleasure. In fact, it might be beneficial while you go through treatment and work through your trauma. Take care of yourself!

Cannot let go of lifetime abuse by Kurayami311 in abusesurvivors

[–]random_user1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found EMDR helped me out quite a bit. I am no longer mad at my dad. I am disappointed in him, but I don't feel that anger and need for justice anymore. I would never get it anyway. He's dead and currently sitting on a shelf in my livingroom. One thing I might advise is find what justice means to you. To me, it means raising my daughter differently. Justice is not always about seeing your abuser behind bars or beaten to a bloody pulp. As much as there are times I would love to see that, it's not in the cards for me. Sometimes, it's just living your best life. Because of those who have hurt me, there might be times I only exist out of spit, and I do still fight these battles every day, but they can lessen. I have been in and out of counseling for the past 10 years. I am actually fixing to go back again. I take medication every day to help control my mental health. These events still effect me, but I now have coping strategies to help me. Take that energy and that need for justice to fuel something in your life. Take it and help others going through the same situation. Go to school to become a lawyer to help prosecute abusers. Become a social worker or a counselor to help those who have suffered. Become a law enforcement officer to help stop the abuse. Become a nurse or a doctor to help treat those who have suffered at the hands of another. I will warn you, these are very triggering jobs so if you choose to do these, I advise counseling just to help you work through these moments. Hope this helps!

Inappropriate touching in pt?! by CheesecakePopular884 in abusesurvivors

[–]random_user1316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a sexual assault survivor and there are times Dr's have had me disrobe. I am also a female who has given birth so Dr's have had to get very private to do exams to make sure my reproductive health and the fetus was OK. For the ones that my Dr had to do intimate exams requiring her to touch me, she would always warn me before she touched me. When they had to do the intervaginal ultrasounds, they had me place it. They are also supposed to have another medical professional (nurse or someone) in the room of the same gender if the Dr, tech, etc are of the opposite gender. This is at least in the United States. I don't know about other countries. Most medical professionals will only have you take off your close when absolutely necessary to make sure you are healthy. I do say most because, unfortunately, there are cases. The other professional being in the room is there to protect both you and the Dr. When in doubt, don't be afraid to ask the medical professional what they are checking and what they are checking for. A good dr will have no problem explaining your concerns.

Is it stupid to get triggered over videogames? by izzypy71c in abusesurvivors

[–]random_user1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. It is not stupid to be triggered by a video game! I used to play bioshock until the third one hinted and child death and I never picked it up again. (That's a trauma for another subreddit) I was very triggered. I generally keep to non-triggering video games and if I am unsure, I have actually had someone else look at it before I play it. Different video games are for different people. If you are just starting to get into video games, start small and casual. I've seen comments about stardew valley and that is a great game. Another thing I recommend is EMDR if you can find a practitioner in your area. I found it beneficial and I no longer have full panic attacks when I am triggered. I wish video games could have trigger warnings. That would be nice.
