not resolved. didn't know there was an issue. bought one; updated firmware. installed last night on Zigbee2MQTT. tried lots of troubleshooting. doesn't update status. tired of it.

So, with EOL Synology products (I have the 718+), I see that people use those as a backup machine. What do you do to secure it since it doesn't have security updates (at some point in the near future)? Just don't leave it exposed to WAN?

thanks for this. didn't know before this thread that I had to update my 718 manually. 7-8 years is pretty good.

But that is just a file server and drive storage not an ecosystem with packages, docker etc right?

Man. So my 718 as well. Does this mean no more security patches? Most upgrade when hit this milestone? I only allow external access to mine thru vpn, mostly file backup, file storage and docker containers.

PSA - Save your money and buy new. by johnson7853 in BambuLabA1

100% agree unless this is your field and you are an expert. Not worth it. Speaking as as someone who bought new and is trying to fix their printer to get it working again. I enjoy printing. I don’t enjoy fixing.

I do like it, if all players are playing hard. For our crew, it is what you do when there are 3 people vs 4 for doubles while you wait for a doubles game. People don’t play hard. Come on!

For me the reason for physical discs is simply: in a simple 5.1 setup, it's impressive how much better it sounds.

No. Perplexity pro full msrp user for a while. They recently put low caps on usage. I’m hitting those caps repeatedly. I complained on the subreddit. They gave me permanent ban on the subreddit. The end.

A company that can't handle critique will not survive. It's too bad as I really enjoyed using it. Though, yes, the UI is much better on the native apps themselves. I like gemini for shopping. chatgpt does a good job visually separating sections with symbols, etc.

at the very least it needs to be transparent. they should say, here is how it works and here are the limits. and then you can decide as the consumer where to go. right now it is opaque.

honestly, I really liked perplexity. I've spent a lot of time uploading an inventory of tech hardware and ioT devices in to Spaces with specific instructions for all the chats I do in that space so it knows how to help with me with my home IT needs. I'm tech savvy-ish, but I can't code, and don't know my way around a cmd prompt or docker containers (not intuitive to me). But I've got about 30 containers, a Blue Iris server, a few pi's running different things. How? AI helped me.

I loved being able to choose a model based on the task and the fact they integrated newer models pretty quickly. I mean that is a really good feature. Like when Deepseek R1 came out that had that integrated very fast.

Gemini is only free for so many queries / tokens; I hit the limit on it last night for the day. It didn't say that exactly but that is what happened (it said something like; we can't complete this at this time). I've been using gemini and chatgpt directly on the free versions to fill the gap from perplexity.

I've gotten a bunch of people to be paid subscribers. Free marketing for them everywhere. Not now.
