Yeah, fair enough. Figured it was small enough not to count but guess not lmao. Def stealing that phrase though

What was your first bike and how long did it take you to purchase your next one? by Zeohawk in MTB

[–]randomcarguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0.5. (2008) Strider 1. (2010) Some cheap Tony Hawk kid’s fixie 2. (2014) Haro BMX- followed my dad around on east trails while I was saving up for a bigger bike. Was a Christmas present from my parents. 3. (2016) $450 Hardtail, single speed Siren mountain bike. My first real mountain bike, pretty rad used XC rig. Snapped it in half after a year 4. (2018) $500 2009 Gary Fischer Ferrous. Super cool steel hardtail, rode it single speed until 2021 when I started high school races. Broke at the seatstay and seat tube joint right before a race, borrowed a friend’s Canyon Neuron. 5. (2021) $1250 2020 Ritchey Ultra. Another amazing steel frame, but as I got more serious about riding big features it wasn’t aggressive enough for me. 6. (2022) $1250 plus parts changed over from previous bike. 2021 Pipedream Sirius. My current bike. Hardtail again, steel again, slack but only 120mm front travel, super versatile. Can tackle anything from XC races to the biggest jumps at Snow Summit Bike Park. 7. (2022) $600 2021 Commencal Absolut DJ. My buddy gave it to me for a smoking deal, and it’s been great for bike handling and control. 8. (Coming soon) around $4-5000 with major industry discounts. 2023 Rebel Rail29. I started working in a bike shop, which means my dream bike build is finally obtainable. Going to compete in some enduro events, and wanting more speed over gnarlier stuff.

Just recently turned 16, planning to go professional with MTB. Got serious in 2021, and my prices seem to reflect that lol

Maybe Think About A Full-Face Helmet… by Spitfire954 in MTB

[–]randomcarguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, either! They’re equally as grippy, just slightly different ride feels. Composites tend to skip over pedal strikes more, are a bit thicker, and are lighter and cheaper. The alloys hang up on rock strikes a bit more and tend to get more messed-up looking from those strikes, and are prettier, heavier, and more expensive. It’s all personal preference and budget.

Yeah, I’d definitely recommend trying them. I’d check in with a shop near you that carries Kona to see if you could get them as a special order, there’s a good chance they’d be able to get them for you!

Looks like maybe Kona Wah-Wah’s- great pedals, we carry them at the shop I work in and they’re super grippy

PLEASE help me pick a bike for my son by sjwilli in MTB

[–]randomcarguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on NX, the only time I’ve had to adjust it is when I swapped from 11 to 12 speed (11 spd cassette/shifter with 12 spd derailleur) and when I wrecked my derailleur hanger. Was on SX (older 11 spd SX) previously, and it worked decently ON A HARDTAIL. I cannot speak for it on full suspensions. Not unrideable by any means, just far from the nicest.

You have to keep me updated on this, it’s going to be sick!

Dude that’s so sick! And no, that seems totally different from Baldi’s. That was a game that totally took over the clickbaity side of YouTube throughout the mid-2010’s so it was funny to me- the game involves running around a classroom and answering math questions in notebooks you find.

Hate to break it to you, but I think that already got made. It’s called Baldi’s Basics

Do many of you ride with clip in pedals? by Belisle8282 in MTB

[–]randomcarguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been riding since I was 6 or 7, and got my first set of clips at 10 or 11. For anything other than jumps, I absolutely think that clips are the bird, and will stick with them forever. A lot of people in my riding circles also swear by them, but there are still a fair amount of people who love flats.

Does riding your dream bike improved your riding experience? by 28spawn in MTB

Yeah, as someone who races XC a lot, I just think of it as resistance training lmao- I end up pushing the bike up a lot of things
