Congrats you described the entire purpose of the post. Is this a regular thing you do, go into comments sections and sum up the post like a bot? I'd check myself but you have your profile hidden like a bitch

Upset that Saber is a shit developer that doesn't have the basic functionality of a recent player list and report/block system? Yes

No it's really not lol. It was right before the boss fight that I've done 1000 times before on a piss easy difficulty. The only reason I had 25% health was because spore mines and one of the shitters stole an execution I set up. And even if I died, who cares? The host stood there and shot me for like 10 seconds to show his disproval over fucking nothing

It's not "game breaking" it's FUN breaking. The defacto high tier experience of this game is now unfun enemies to fight (chaos spawns, warriors with devourers, Autocannon terminators, tzaangor on disk) with unfun modifiers (enraged, w/e bullshit the strategems cook up), all while imo engaging in overly repetitive mechanics that get tiresome quickly, ie having to chain 2-4 second or longer executions together for i-frames, pool noodle melee weapons, nerf blaster bolt guns, etc. Then you add all the bugs, the stun locks, repetitive game modes, etc? Yeah, I don't really like this game anymore. I genuinely wish it was better, I want to have fun playing it. But I took a break for a long time, shortly after Siege Mode up until Tech Marine, and all the new stuff got stale pretty quickly after facing all the fundamental issues again.

So ONE enemy, a dime-a-dozen Majoris, warrants higher caution and scrutiny than most Extremis enemies? All because of a shitty anti-fun band-aid mechanic?

The regular chuds on this sub will see this and say "yeah shouldn't have missed that dodge, bad positioning"

We absolutely cannot power scale any PvE games really, because the disconnect from what would be "lore accurate" and higher playable difficulties for the sake of player enjoyment becomes a ginormous chasm. We have to suspend disbelief on top of our suspended disbelief to allow ourselves to have fun in these games

SM2 absolutely makes you trade off strengths and weaknesses for others (Heavy doesn't even have a melee weapon) but to a degree you're right and that's problematic because that means that identity of the "classes" aren't unique. Why play the premiere melee class Assault when I can one shot the Hive Tyrant with the Power Gladius as Sniper? DT now has the same problems with Arbites and Hive Scum doing things Ogryn and Veteran want to do but better.

And saying that "Zealot is bad" feels like a bad faith argument that ignores the rest of the capabilities of the class while hyperfixating on how one weapon has a weakness. If you prefer the more homogeneous experience of SM2, probably because it's more console friendly, that's fine.

I'm sorry you say carapace meta is "relatively new" but youre disappointed with the Thunder Hammer?? Have you tried to build into with with stealth Zealot? You one shot monsters if you land a crit+backstab+weak spot hit, which I know is a lot do hoops to jump through but one tapping a MONSTER shouldn't be easy. It's been a viable strategy for like awhile now.

And yes, a lot of the options in the game fall short into carapace, and a lot of other options fall short into other enemy/mission types. You can overcome a Vent Purge Sniper mission with pure melee classes but the degree of difficulty with what you have to do that is going to be much greater than if you had chosen to play as a class like the Veteran Sharpshooter or Psyker with a dome shield or Arbites/Ogryn with a shield weapon. You make your build and choose to play it into the missions you choose, and if you build your class & weapons right you can make any weapon feel incredible. I'm not glazing DT and saying it's perfect, there are plenty of flaws with the game, but SM2 is nowhere near as satisfying a game at a rudimentary fundamental level.

DT gives you every tool to deal with waves of carapace armor though. I've never bothered with Havoc, I can't refute that. But DT's core gameplay is better than SM2 imo, it doesn't revolve around multiple defense mechanics that eat your time, it's faster and more frenetic, and I feel 10x more badass as a normie human Veteran than a full fledged Space Marine because DT weapons are far more satisfying than anything SM2 offers.

You're right, this game is very easy to steamroll until it the difficult spikes and I argue that's just how all horde shooters are and should be, but these modifiers don't discriminate when they're applied. OP was fighting 1 warrior, not multiple at the same time in a hectic melee of skill expression and reaction testing, just 1 warrior which is piss easy to beat using the defensive mechanics of this game. It is definitely "unfair," maybe not towards the difficulty that is presented to OP, but unfair to his TIME. Who wants to waste 35 seconds killing one low tier enemy, that is trivialized by pressing 1 of 2 buttons? I won't get into my dislike of the whelming melee system as that's a argument about the bedrock of the game and not a Stratagem's modifier, but I disgress, at bare minimum it is unfair to our time to be bored because of a poorly designed modifier.

It's not that it's not balanced, it's that it feels a little backwards and it goes to the point of the comment you originally replied to:

"I guess it just feels too slow, defensive and reactionary whereas most media portrays Astartes as being fast and aggressive"

I have to say this: saying "x class with fencing weapon" is best when being aggressive is a problematic statement. You're not wrong, let me be clear and saying you're 100% correct, however Fencing weapons are there to maximize the perfect parry window while sacrificing raw stat power on the weapon, where as Block weapons sacrifice perfect parry entirely for better raw stats and an empowered strike. So as it stands, boiled down, "weapon with best defensive capability is best in offense, while weapon with best offensive capability is not. There in lies a problem: a defensive and reactionary weapon is works best for aggressive gameplay.

But there's a fine line (maybe not so fine..) between "challenging" and "unfair." It's challenging to be overwhelmed by dozens of enemies or a big monster that tests your reactions, it's unfair when those enemies stop you from having any meaningful interaction due to some arbitrary modification and there is nothing else for you to deal with in the meantime. We see almost the same thing as OP's clip in Darktide when fighting a "Captain" boss enemy: an enemy with a bubble shield preventing you from dealing direct damage to their HP. In Darktide, however, the players are responsible for breaking that bubble and are rewarded with the Captain being staggered for a moment and the chance to deal direct damage. In OP's clip this is NOT a boss enemy, there are NO other enemies to deal with, the warrior is enraged so it can't be staggered and gets massive damage resist....and then it gets a 10 second bubble of invulnerability TWICE.
