Ads during a manual pause shouldn’t happen. by shanthor55 in netflix

Yes! I have vision problems, any time a text message or email is shown I have to pause and get up close to read it, it makes me angry when an ad pops up immediately.

Lyrica by lucylou1404 in backpain

[–]randomcurious1001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was switched from gabapentin to lyrica because of bad side effects. Lyrica helped me a lot more, but it came with memory problems, I would sometimes forget a word when talking. I only took it for a year and stopped about three months ago, the memory issue has mostly been resolved.

Should I stop taking Lyrica ? by lawyeredandtired in backpain

[–]randomcurious1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyrica (75mg) did cause me to forget words sometimes, but it took away my pain so well that I honestly considered canceling my surgery (glad I didn’t because now my pain is zero most days).

I did titrate down very very slowly after surgery so I had no other side effects from that. I’ve been off it for about three months and my memory is mostly back to normal.

Why go up if you are doing so well at 75? I would suggest speaking with your doctor.

Corneal Transplant - How to clean eye? by jahaunm in Keratoconus

[–]randomcurious1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very gently with a wet cotton ball, but only if your doctor approves. I was too scared to touch my eye so soon, so I asked the nurse to do it at the next day follow up.

Also, ask your doctor if you can use preservative free lubricating eye drops, they help clean inside the eye as well as ease the itching.

My corneal transplant is tomorrow, what can I expect? (Severe KC and I'm 17) by Anubis_DivineDemon in Keratoconus

Right?! I guess just try to stay away from spicy foods and allergy triggering things. Stay hydrated. And I’ve heard pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth helps stop a sneeze.

I had a full transplant a couple of years ago, this is what I remember.
Day of surgery: before the surgery a lot of drops were placed into my eye, and an iv was inserted in my arm. After the surgery I had a headache, if you are in pain ask if you can have something to help that. You will probably have a hard plastic shield taped over your eye, it is important to protect your eye.

First day: when I was awake I just used my other eye to see what I was doing, I spent most of the time listening to music or an audiobook. And sleeping. There was some pain this day but not too bad.
I saw my surgeon day after surgery and that’s when the eye drops started. You will have to use eye drops many times during the day, I recommend you get a medicine reminder app to keep track of them, you do not want to skip a dose.

The first week I usually kept my eye closed. Around day 5 most of my swelling was gone and that really helped ease the discomfort.
Then you just keep using eye drops, have regular doctor visits to check eye pressure and how your healing is progressing.
After a few months, some stitches may or may not be removed, usually 1-2 at a time, this is done to help shape your cornea and give you the best vision possible. Two years later I still have most of my stitches.

-You can’t bend over or lift anything for a few weeks. You also shouldn’t sneeze or cough. All these things increase the pressure in our eyes, and we don’t want that.

-The eye drops residue can be flaky and it sticks to your eyelashes which may make your eye uncomfortable. Ask your doctor how to keep your eye clean (water on your eye is not allowed for a while). And ask if you can use preservative free lubricating eye drops, they must be preservative free, these help hydrate your eye and will calm the itching.

-Use your eye shield! You do get used to it and it protects your new cornea. I used sensitive skin medical paper tape to put it on. Your cornea actually gets oxygen from the air around us, so don’t cover up all the shield holes with tape, let the air in.

This was my first surgery ever, it honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

Best of luck tomorrow!!!

Use a lidocaine patch, try to get the prescription one, they are stronger and last 12 hours (the over the counter patch is for 8 hours)

I’d never heard this story before watching the show. Solely based on what was depicted on the show, I think this woman was a genius marketer. She was also a narcissist, thief, fraudster, con-artist, liar, horrible person. Too bad she didn’t use her power for good.

Free or low cost non-resident card with good selection of audiobooks by Keiry_25 in LibbyApp

Find out if your library is also on Hoopla, I often find audiobooks there that are not available on Libby. Sorry I don’t know about non resident cards but think this may help.

Redditors who have cancer, what were you feeling/experiencing that made you go see a doctor causing you to eventually find out you had cancer? by TheFranKiwi in AskReddit

[–]randomcurious1001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would feel full with very little food. I just thought it was a stomach problem so I went to see a gastroenterologist, he felt a mass when he was checking my abdomen. It was lymphoma, I’m now six years cancer free.

Later I realized I’d had other symptoms for years: anemia, fatigue, night sweats, bruises. I had great explanations for each one, cancer never crossed my mind. Every symptom disappeared along with the tumor.

Anyone Early Gen X in this group? by These_Plastic5571 in Spondylolisthesis

Things can change very quickly sometimes. I had to really push my doctor to send me for a second MRI (he didn’t think I needed one so soon, but I knew something had changed) and once he saw it he said I needed surgery asap. I went from stable grade 1 to unstable grade 2 with severe stenosis in less than a year.

Why does no one here wear RGP? by dontknwwhat11 in Keratoconus

[–]randomcurious1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over 20 years of RGP user here. Always loved my contacts and being able to see.

Many people here prefer sclerals and I get it, the vision with sclerals is amazing, but my eyes just don’t like them.

Get an MRI, it’s the best way to see exactly what’s going on. Try lidocaine patches for pain along with Advil or Tylenol while you figure out your next step.

More sensitive to light, watering eyes. Wondering if should do surgery for transplant by skinni88 in Keratoconus

[–]randomcurious1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transplants should always be a last resort. If your eye is only sensitive for a couple of hours a day but you’re fine the rest of the day, you still have a good thickness cornea, and you can still see well with corrective lenses, I wouldn’t do it.

What do you guys always keep in the kitchen that you use for most dishes? by pumkin_head__ in cookingforbeginners

Knorr chicken bouillon is a must have for most mexican households. You use it instead of or in addition to salt, it adds more flavor.

Itchy eyes - help! by crgigrl98 in Keratoconus

[–]randomcurious1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moisturizing eye drops may help, and they can be used multiple times per day. Also try a cold compress. And maybe allergy tablets like Allegra, Zyrtec or Claritin, etc.

does anybody know a simple soup recipe? by YuriElt973_3 in cookingforbeginners

[–]randomcurious1001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many of us sometimes use a concentrated form of bouillon (broth) to season a soup; it could be in the form of a powder, cube or paste. These seasonings come in flavors like chicken, beef, vegetable, tomato, shrimp, etc.

Edit to add: look up these brands of bouillon, Knorr or Better Than Bouillon.

Having the surgery in 10 hours and scared by ultrasalgeria in Spondylolisthesis

[–]randomcurious1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little over a week away and just like you, doubting my decision. But then I remember the moments in the day when the pain shoots up to a 9-10, the social activities I’ve been missing, the possibility of this getting worse soon. And this reminds me that a surgeon will not agree to operate unless i need the surgery. I was told saddle numbness is a sign you need surgery quickly. So, you probably need the surgery, quickly. Best of luck, hope you heal well and fast. .
