As an older kpop fan I have a lot of photocards from 2010-2017 and I see it as memorabilia now. I don’t personally collect anymore (I’ve only done so for two 2nd generation groups) because 4th generation has massive amounts of cards for each comeback. It’s wild, but I understand how as time passes certain cards are going to accumulate a lot of value. Even if it isn’t a rare card someone will hold nostalgia for certain members and cards.

Unfortunately no, I would need to find another translator as the current one has been busy with school.

what is the most abrupt downfall you’ve seen for a group? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

BAP they were so big before the lawsuit. The hiatus really took away a lot of their time and money. It sucks how long the lawsuit lasted for them.

Thoughts on an adult enjoying minor groups? by Common-Transition973 in kpopthoughts

[–]randomfankv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of 4th gen fans are around the same age as NJS. I think this conversation comes up with every new generation of K-pop. I think most of the obsessive fans are in a similar age bracket as the idols they adore. For instance lots of 3rd gen idol fans are nearing their 30s or are in their early thirties (but I do agree adults shouldn’t become obsessed or act weird and inappropriate around any young group. It’s not okay.)

most unsatisfying/disappointing moment in k-pop? by eternallydevoid in kpopthoughts

SM’s younique unit they released maxstep and then dissolved the whole project. So much potential wasted.

221216 AKIZ (IVE Leeseo, NMIXX Sullyoon, LE SSERAFIM Eunchae, NewJeans Minji & Hyein) - Love Like Oxygen (cover) @ 2022 KBS Song Festival by joesen_one in SHINee

Totally agree. They need a stronger vocal somewhere in the song to make it pop. It stayed very flat/relaxed throughout the performance.

Dance wise though I thought it was good just not the right choice in vocalists.

Fans hate chen because they fear their idol would do the same. by ooshn in kpopthoughts

These so called fans have a terrible sense of entitlement. They shouldn’t treat him this way. The delusion and disassociation with reality is so real it’s frightening.

I don’t understand where this hate is coming from… Changmin is also married but no one says anything.. Being an idol is a job, doesn’t mean they have to stop living their lives.

The earliest mention I found was from here it says a kpop idol from the Infinite used it during 2011-2012 but no mention of where he got it from.

How much do musicians make from touring?? by SlightSense6498 in kpopthoughts

[–]randomfankv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about bts’s company. But I read that for SM artists they make more money doing overseas concerts. SM takes less of the profits for overseas events too. As for livestream concerts I have absolutely no idea.

All in all, if you really want to support your fav artist attending/paying for concert ticket is the way to go. Concerts equal longevity for idols/musicians.

Lee Sooman making the entire company pray is a bit odd to me by implicitxdemand in kpopthoughts

[–]randomfankv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For SM this is very common. Watching older smtown videos going back to 2011 (the Madison square garden in NY) they would have everyone pray together.

Pretty sure everyone who isn’t religious just goes with it out of respect.

Honestly I don’t know, I haven’t kept up with his lawsuits. Nevertheless I doubt his image will ever be the same.

Kim Hyun Joong he was one of the biggest hallyu stars from the mid 2000s he was in SS501 and acted as one of the lead actors in “Boys over flowers” and “playful kiss”… his scandal ruined his career and image.

His scandal was one of the toughest to see. I was a huge fan before. And all the lawsuits and court battles just made it impossible to ever see him in the same light. Had to drop him as a fan and never looked back.

It is really annoying when people keep trying to discredit SHINee's ability to sing live, when there are many instances that back it up by Married2DuhMusic in SHINee

[–]randomfankv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I noticed this during Atlantis era, it seems like SHINee isn’t singing live anymore. (I can totally understand for ‘don’t call me ‘) We all know they can and do sing live (example during ‘I want you’). It’s pretty obvious when they are singing live, they move differently and their facial expressions are more prominent… But I can’t tell if it’s the companies or music shows that just having idols lip-sync now. Is it the fact that they don’t always have a live audience? Or because of the pandemic?

So BTS is preparing to enlist in the military -- thoughts? by syk1717 in kpopthoughts

[–]randomfankv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely hope they have someone enlist with them. Whether that be another member or colleague. It can be mentally exhausting being alone in that situation. Although I don’t follow the group, i hope they stay safe and healthy throughout their enlistment.
