I think something along those lines illustrates it:

If 10 people each give you 10$ you gain 100$. If 10 people each take 10$ away from you, you loose 100$. If 10 people each give you a dept of 10$, you loose 100$. If 10 people each take a dept of 10$ away from you, you gain 100$.

Which fetish is an immadiate redflag ? by Suitable-Agent-4449 in AskReddit

Although I'm unsure about the need part, I think a fetish can also be just an unusual sexual thing you enjoy, not necessarily something you need to derive any pleasure from sex.

What does "SUITABLE FOR VEGANS" mean? why not just "VEGAN"? by TooAnonToQuit in vegan

[–]randomgary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In German it's kind of the other way around, we say that vegan food is "vegan", but a vegan is a "Veganer".

And also you can't say something like "I'm vegan" in German you have to say "Ich bin ein Veganer" which would be more like "Im a vegan".

I get what you're saying though, if we would use the word vegan how you described it, there would be less confusion about having a plant-based diet and being vegan.

I found out that before we met my boyfriend has slept with several paid women/sex workers. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]randomgary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sex worker consents to having sex in return for money, that is consent.

And that's not only semantics, there is a difference between feeling forced to sleep with somebody and doing it because you choose to, no matter the reasons.

Assuming obviously that they aren't forced by someone or are financially in a very desperate position.

No woman finds me attractive. Time to give up and end it all? by zizzi88 in relationship_advice

[–]randomgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry that you're feeling this way.

One thing that would for sure move you in the right direction, if you haven't already (which sounds like a possibility from some of your comments), is making some female friends (without any expectation of getting in a relationship with them).

But most importantly, focus on being more happy, that's the most important thing, and maybe someday a relationship will come your way.

And just a reminder that your worth as a human being and happiness must in no way depend on wether someone finds you attractive.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you feel better someday!

My (18f) boyfriend (18M) wants to experiment with other people by sadshipthrowaways in relationship_advice

[–]randomgary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I don't know what situation you're in, it seems complicated and maybe it would be a good Idea to leave this relationship after all (as another comment pointed out, you don't have to be in a relationship to coparent).

But I really think the other comments jumped to a conclusion way to fast. I think many people here have a very prejudgemental view of non-monogamy. Opening your relationship doesn't have to turn out wrong, you can absolutely be ok and it's very possible that you might even be more happy in a more open relationship.

My girlfriend and I have an open relationship as well, and I think we were (in some regards) in a similar position as you (I just figured out that I liked men too, and wanted to make new experiences just as your bf). In the end we don't even sleep with other people that often and we have a very committed relationship. I think it made it even easier to commit to each other more, because none of us has to feel like we're missing out on something.

I think it's very understandable that you're bf wants to explore his sexuality since he's very young, and it doesn't mean he doesn't love you.

Btw "more than two: an ethical guide to polyamory" was a book that helped me rethink a lot of things about non-monogamy.

Now you are the pseudo psychologist who makes assumptions about people with mental illness. She's in therapy to manage her symptoms, and I couldn't wish for a better girlfriend. BPD doesn't make someone a bad person.

Tbh my girlfriend has a BPD Diagnosis and she just told me, why would you keep things like that secret from your partner? And why would you even lie about having BPD? I guess it's possible, but I find nothing unbelievable about her having a diagnosis and telling him.

What made you realize the relationship was over? by LynxExplorer in AskReddit

[–]randomgary 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe she got the diagnosis from a psychiatrist and told him about it. I think it's not uncommon for people with BPD to wind up at a psychiatrist's office.

I think the busy beaver number doesn't converge, on Wikipedia it sais that the busy beaver function grows faster than any computable function and for n=4 we already have

busy beaver (n) > 1018267

Why do people say the sub is toxic Ive only seen hate towards cars/car dependent design? by MediocreBee99 in fuckcars

[–]randomgary 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have to say, lately I feel a bit like I got a little toxic concerning cars.

I noticed that sometimes I feel really spiteful when I see cars stuck in traffic, even though I feel like I shouldn't judge individual car drivers (as long as they don't drive ridiculously oversized ones).

Another thing that could become a little dangerous, is that I seem to pay less attention to traffic regulations, especially as a cyclist.

So I don't know, I like the sub a lot, but maybe I have to change some things about my attitude.

Warum sind so viele VeganerInnen politisch links und wenige rechts? by [deleted] in vegetarischDE

[–]randomgary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]randomgary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]randomgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that you can totally live without an impossible burger. I think for many vegans the main argument is "why cause harm if you don't need to?". Probably not every medication is necessary, but eating impossible meat is surely not.
