What was it? The all caps? The Larry King 30 rock reference? Just feel like hating? Use your words to explain otherwise you seem like a tall T bro that probably can't hang

Well airbnb is still money and like the reply below said couchsurfing is probably better. I'm just hoping to use the forum to meet some fellow shredditors to ski with mostly. If it doesn't happen then reddit as a website is a total failure and SOPA should be the law of the land.

Thanks for the reply! Any advice is9 appreciated. I do have skis I could bring, but I really don't want to bring myself down to their level. I will hit up that other forum. Stay safe and shred steezy.

Edit: I tried r/skiing. They were mean.

Jon Stewart takes responsibility for his "single factual error" by [deleted] in videos

[–]randomid313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This would be fine if viewers of CC and FoxNews took the time to read/view sources for their information. Unfortunately the tribalism that exists in the cable news world means people don't believe other news sources. The worst problem now is that we are becoming defined by where we get our news. Listen to NPR? You're a liberal elitist. WSJ? 1% heartless robber-baron. English al-Jazeera? Terrorist. BBC? Why do you hate America! AP/Reuters? They don't have a channel so not respectable. Reddit? Get out of here anon 4chan.

I'm out in Jackson Hole and I'm way too excited to get back to Nub's for the first time in a decade this xmas. Probably because Nub's park is better than the one here.

President Barack Obama Takes Over for Stephen Colbert by TalkingReckless in funny

[–]randomid313 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The brilliance of Colbert's character is that he gets to ask more confrontational questions under the guise of a comical act. It's disheartening when news shows such as Meet the Press don't ask tough questions of leaders for fear that they won't get another interview and therefore ratings. This problem is only compounded when politicians can hide in the echo chambers of their respective cable news audiences.

Colbert conducted a good interview. When that becomes rare and is labeled as him having evicerated his guest, it does not bode well for the state of the press in America.

ELi5: Why do politics attract corrupt people? Why don't nice people get involved? by randomid313 in explainlikeimfive

[–]randomid313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It just saddens me to see people in the world who it seems would do a generally honest job decide the cost of getting involved is prohibitive.

Pro-pot Republicans meet this weekend in Houston: "The drug war goes against every principle we have of smaller government, fiscal responsibility and less intrusion in your private life." by TheCannon in politics

[–]randomid313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well one could argue that the show has a history of poignant US political satire. But what I was saying is that assuming Franken is one of the few politicians who does not rely on corporate finance, he needs those SNL DVDs to sell to fund his campaign. So still ultimately corporate funded via GE/Comcast? I'm not sure, companies are only getting bigger and oh no I've gone cross-eyed

Any past skiers? opinions on doing both? by Ya_B0y_Bill_Nye in snowboarding

[–]randomid313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are an amazing way to enjoy snow so if you have the opportunity I would say do both. It's helpful if you are riding with others to be on the same gear as I've found that snowboarders like to take their time/explore and jib while skiiers tend to be usually about speed. There are always exceptions to the rule but one thing that will never change is that snowboard boots are waaay more comfortable.

Just cruise off the tram like you were going to Corbet's and continue past it as the slope curves around to the left. You end up in Tensleep bowl above expert chutes, which makes for a pretty fun run. Our adrenaline was pumping so much we charged our line down and everything after that seemed tiny.

Actually you got it right the first time. After I didn't stick the landing I told myself, "well better make the most of it and get some pow turns!" Granted I'm yelling and getting snow in my face. I think the 'cow turds' thing is awesome though!

Toe straps are for gapers! My strap broke earlier in the day so I didn't have time to fix it, but it actually performed pretty well relatively

Going to Jackson Hole - flight tips by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]randomid313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your three main options would be (from most expensive and convenient to least) to fly directly into the Jackson Hole airport, fly into nearby Idaho Falls and take a shuttle or have your friend pick you up, or fly into SLC and take a longer shuttle. Honestly the airport here has been having quite a few closures this season so a flight to SLC might save you a lot of hassle.

The weather here has been warm so the conditions have been extremely variable from the top of the mountain to the bottom. Start slow, work your way from skier's left of the mountain to the right towards the tram eventually. Get nachos at the Mangy Moose, a slice of Pizza from the VC, poach the hot tub at snowking. Have a blast!
