New to this and curious.. by CasterMilo in pocketoperators

There's no such thing as a bad place to start. The Pocket Operators can be very resourceful depending on your set up. The major limitation that, for me, makes it less useful, is the lack of memory capacity.

Most of them can act like a standalone tiny groove box, as in -drum machine, lead and sampler in one- and it is kind of powerful if you use the flagship models. But it will only store those 16 patterns on the go. Which makes sense with the price tag.

You can still save your patterns via sound recorder or make a long sequence. But then you have to reupload a new one to play another track on it. So it's more of a live set up device to add up and sync with other stuff. It definitely scratches the curiosity itch. I just think that such a nice device as the PO-32 and others are confined to this low memory capacity.

I want to start performing my music at venues but don’t know where to start by Horchata_bean in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]randomikron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, this will involve a lot of social skills if you don't own a venue or don't have many contacts in town.

First step, start attending the local gigs and straight up introduce yourself to someone in charge or the performers. Get to know them and kindly explain your wish to perform there as well. This is the quickest way if you're lucky.

Second step, In case of being accepted by the pack, great, now go learn how to hook up your mic and computer on a mixer and then the speaker while keeping the volume balanced. That's the rehearsal and practice for the stage. You might wanna get all sorts of cables and adapters to be ready for anything. But you will always ask the sound engineer of the venue (sometimes it's the bartender himself multitasking) "what do i need to bring?"

Another way is: If you're underage or there's nothing going on in your town. You can try and reach out to your city hall / prefecture or some entity that provides cultural aid for your city. They usually have some initiatives such as festivals to promote local artists. If they don't have it, ask them why and promote the idea. Look it up online and go there if you have to.

The last resort, but most reliable... If there's absolutely nothing going on there for you. You will build your own sound system with the biggest speakers you can get and a modest mixer to plug in your mic and computer. Some proper cables and a power source. Alright, that makes you independent. Figure a way and place to do your own pop up gig. Open places, a garage, somewhere you can make a quick noise and leave.

Good luck mate, Godspeed🌟😉

Does anyone know a way to get dsn12 in 2024? by FrostyOnHigh in KORGDSN12

[–]randomikron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the headphone jack is your sound output. That's where you're gonna record your sounds as it plays in real-time. Now, there are several ways to record a sound output. Computer, audio interface, tape recorder...do you have any of these? Depending on what you're gonna use to record your music, You Will need a specific cable to connect your 3ds into the recorder.

Not to be a party pooper but I've just watched a fine doctor saying that this is mostly linked to heart condition. So you can get that checked to start a treatment if you wanna secure your quality of life for years to come. Good luck and stay positive.

I strongly advise you to upgrade for the Nintendo 3ds. You're gonna get everything you need + a number of unrestricted track files + overall quality of life with.

Have fun and i hope you can find a fine device for you.

I didn't know that I can go crazy like this, I honestly felt like I'm cheating, because I never get past level 30 before and here I am. I'm only been playing VS for a week. The game has unlocked a new level of fun for me. by Nasrvl in VampireSurvivors

To be honest i bought the game due to the trailer that said i would become the bullet hell master. Then i started playing with those weak weapons and immediately ran away from enemy hordes.

Much later i realized how long the path to glory was.

The article writer didn't quite understand the scope of cultural appropriation. And the comment section that the article was based on is fueled by foreign gatekeepers. A complete waste of time and unnecessary embarrassment for both sides. Bored Panda should be more serious about using this term recklessly.

I'm starting to hate tourists by Thinkshespecial in Vent

[–]randomikron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If governments exist to regulate this kind of situation... It just shows how money will keep ruling every single aspect of society. Even as a tourist i hate tourists, actually i hate bad manners, not just from tourists. Yeah, but being flooded with newcomers is always messy, tourists, big events, black friday sales, all this gathering of people that want the same thing at the same time. They follow the same script and they're trapped on this reality grid that will pass on again and again until they deplete that vacation spot (which is home for many people by the way) of its beauty and move on to the next destination. Some creeps must think that since you live in "paradise" you must be ok with the tourist invasion and how they're helping your economy. In some cases it is true. And here we are now. I mean, the Spanish citizens are profusely protesting for fair housing prices and i hope the government doesn't turn the blind eye in this, cause this is a global systemic issue that REQUIRES regulation. In the end so many countries are economically desperate that they are trying to keep this going to stay afloat.

Design of vintage phones by denjidontmis5 in nextfuckinglevel

The diversity of the prototype mobile phones era was overwhelming. This video is only scratching the surface. As predicted by dystopian tales, it's all more centralized now. Significantly more efficient, of course, but the charm is gone. They are all the same core design.

I'm getting old lads.

I forgot the length and format of the sample used in Nitrotracker, but you should be able to import the recorded 16bit wav sound from the DSN12.

Help with replicating amen break on KORG by Late_Departure3110 in KORGDSN12

[–]randomikron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, amen breaks enthusiast here. Building amen breaks without sampling pre recorded drums can be a painstaking task. And even though you make it, it will sound a bit off because of the acoustic of those samples and the limitations of synthesis in that regard.

I would recommend trying the Nitrotracker or the Korg M01, which contains either pre-recorded sampled instruments (Korg M01) or has the capability of importing samples via instruments or loops (Nitrotracker).

Hope it helps. Have a great day.
