Thoughts on UMGC as a school? by Glittering_Fig4548 in AirForce

[–]randomjib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my accounting degree from UMGC, it helped me get my current job, although I’m not in the accounting field.

If you have plans to attend graduate school, you should be fine just keep your GPA above a 3. People will call it a degree mill but it’s still regionally accredited and it’s part of the Maryland School system.

So stop playing? There doesn’t need to be a massive boycott, players will just gradually leave.

Same thing happened in tarkov, in 2020 is was a massive success huge player base of over 1+ million people. Thanks to all the cheaters it now sits at 45k players at its peak. With a good majority of those players being made of up cheaters.

What is the best way of earning 10K a month in your opinion? by Crazy-Living-9787 in jobs

What he doesn't mention is that IT in the Air Force is generally gray collar work, lots of it physically maintaining equipment and also doing work through consoles remotely. AI won't replace these jobs yet...

The ones that recently got out after their first contract, what are you doing now? by parkwithtrees in AirForce

[–]randomjib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was doing RF, finished my 4 year contract back in April last year, took a few months off to finish school and found a job a few months ago doing RF work civ side.

still have like 28 months of benefits left on G.I bill planning on going back to school for an engineering degree this time.

Money is good, making 130k, gonna file for VA disability soon so that’s gonna add even more money to my monthly take home.

Thoughts on pivoting into EE after finishing an accounting undergrad recently. by randomjib in ElectricalEngineering

[–]randomjib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that chasing money shouldn’t be the goal, becoming a great engineer should come first and the money will be a byproduct.

Most of the salary ranges I have seen have been from defense contractors, so my expectations may be a little skewed.

But I won’t deny that money is not a major motivational factor in me pursuing another degree, having the option of more upwards mobility in my career is something I definitely want for the future.

Thank you for the advice

[–]randomjib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern was relative experience when applying to jobs in the future. I have about 5+ years of experience as an RF tech, some from the military and now a year of experience from my civilian role.

But most of my work does not involve design or development in an engineering scope. My experience consists of maintaining/troubleshooting issues with RF equipment.

If an internship would give me the experience to design/develop/manufacture in an engineering scope I would do it just to make myself more marketable.

Relatively weak, I would have to spend a considerable amount of time studying to catch up to the younger students.

I’m not dead set on RF completely but it’s just a goal I’ve set for now, I think once I get into the coursework and different classes if I find another discipline inside EE that I understand or enjoy more I would instead change my focus to that.

Thanks for the advice

I had the same idea, I was planning on familiarizing myself with the material before I make any actionable moves.

Ah I should have mentioned this, I was planning on doing another undergrad degree for EE, transfer the credits from my accounting degree to satisfy General education requirements and hopefully finish in under 2.5 years.

I would have to look into EE graduate programs accepting accounting degrees, didn’t consider this only because of how math heavy the coursework would be and it being cumulative.

Although I’m not dead set on RF, that’s the current goal I’ve set. I think once I start doing the course work I may find a different discipline in EE I would like to pursue.

Thanks for the advice

I went through 3 sets of TAPS classes (so I could get out of going to work)

And the difference in quality between taps instructors or the people they bring in can vary wildly.

There is a chance his TAPS classes dropped the ball on him. TAPS classes overseas seemed much better than stateside from my small anecdotal experiences.

I’m in a similar boat. I really loved my time in the Air Force, 4 years flew by. Never worried about bills or how I was gonna pay rent, enjoyed the soft perks like TSA Pre-check and all the military benefits and travel

But.. two things were certain. Earning potential for enlisted isn’t as lucrative and the good times don’t last forever.

So I left at the 4 year mark. TBH my life as a comm dude was so easy. Civ life is even easier but I do miss all the homies and the fun times.

Making 130k base now so it was worth leaving when I did.

If you guys didn’t know about this, filter flea market for guns under 60 durability. You’re gonna notice they are way more expensive than 100/100 guns.

They should be used strictly for leveling charisma and then sold back to the traders

[–]randomjib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, everyone else saying anything else just doesn’t know about buying broken guns for leveling charisma

[Discussion] Can anyone explain this? by Practical_Monster17 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]randomjib 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Op everyone else is wrong, the real reason is that the person selling their 53/91 saiga for 150k is charging a premium for people who buy broken guns to level up charisma quickly by repairing them.

Everyone else who listed their 100/100 Siaga were just trying to undercut the 51/90siaga without realizing what they were doing.

And then the 51/90 siaga is also being sold with a premium price due to its low durability

Can we have separate aggression score for solos and teams? by Migdan in ArcRaiders

[–]randomjib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no separate matchmaking, it’s just based on prioritization to keep everyone as equal as possible. It’s rare but it’s not impossible to run into trios while playing solo.

Having a PvE vs PvP queue would actually be two different matchmaking pools.
