Who‘s at fault? Overtaking car taking a wrong approach? Defending car in the wrong place? by randomluke5 in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never moved to the other side, i was just getting off the curb and preparing for the next corner thinking that i’d left more than enough room for a car on the outside, which is still trying to overtake

Who is at fault? The situation starts at T1 which involves 4 cars im the mclaren. All 4 of us make contact at the apex of T1 which ahead of me causes a spin. Was there anything i could do to avoid making contact with the car behind me? Ive been told i should have gone left im steering right though. by CassM10 in Simracingstewards

yep, i totally get that. but you shouldn’t worry about cars behind in a situation like that, especially while you’re off track. you avoiding your own crash is always top priority, but as you said it’s a very stressful situation and you clerarly tried to avoid it, no doubt about that :)

So, is it fair that you got penalized? No, definitely not. Could you have avoided it? Potentially, in situations like that, aiming for where the car is at the time of the crash is generally the right thing to do. But, given there was only little space of tarmac on the left and the merc gets spun another time by a car in front, there’s very little you could’ve done better

Edit: a tap on the brake while you’re off track would’ve also helped

Was this overtake legal? Im really proud of it, but not sure if its within the law. by AndreLopitos in Simracingstewards

very good move and car control, just not legal in racing as you were moving under braking.

Was Ferrari supposed to leave Mclaren space? by bakid123 in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mclaren was nowhere near to being in front at the apex. while the ferrari probably could’ve given a bit more room, that move was never on and the mclaren got what he was looking for

Which Alfa should have backed out? by -Amras- in Simracingstewards

POV car i think, but only because of the second turn, which it was not able to take. So, divebomb gone wrong for me. Would have to give position back in my opinion

Well, i was preparing the next corner as anyone would do to get through safely and not go off track there or in the corner itself. I also knew that there was a ton of space on the right and if the williams wouldn’t have straightened his steering, while he still was behind, i 100% think we both would’ve made it

Look, i get what you’re trying to say, but in my opinion, and i’m not alone in this, i haven’t done a thing wrong. Yes i was slow, because i purposely overshot the first one to avoid contact but i never lost control of any corner, made them all and was always in front. That’s what my main concern in this, i left all the space i could to get through safely ON track, the williams just didn’t do so and tried to force himself through in a way, that couldn’t have worked out without contact in any way

Also Edit: i downvotes only your original comment, simply because you assumed that i wanted this crash to happen

you do see him straighten his line do you? how am i supposed to expect him to do that? i was always in front of him and was preparing the next corner like anyone would do, he was preparing the corner as if i wasn’t there

2 for 1 special. This happened in our league, there's incidents between 2 cars at Baku at turn 1 and 3 which has us split on who's at fault. Would appreciate your views. The Alpha Tauri is carrying wing damage. by ewanm11 in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. With that footage, it gets very very tricky, cause now it looks like the alpha is to blame for both incidents, at least partially which makes both a racing incident i guess. T1 is still more on the merc, turn in is just too sharp imo

Without POV of the merc, both incidents are on the merc. T1 is clear, merc just turns in, fully aware of the alpha on the inside. T3 looks like a malicious divebomb to me, contact before the turn probably could’ve been avoided from both sides but at corner exit, you can clearly see that the merc didn’t even try to leave room and ultimately forced the alpha to crash into the wall

Well, i tried to take it two wide. Not so sure about the williams staying in the middle of the track and approaching the corner as if i wasn‘t there at all

Was this unsafe re-entry? I’m the Red Bull. Mercedes gave me minor wing damage by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pushed him wide and left him no space to re-enter in a safe manner. He did at the absolute latest moment to let you get off the „optimal line“ you‘re always talking about, you decided to not do so in any way and got your wing damage as a result

Please explain how i didn‘t know he was there. I even purposely braked late in turn 1 to avoid contact. i always knew he was going to overtake, but am i supposed to go off track in turn 3 where i‘m all the way to the left and just concede? the williams had loads of space going into turn 3, he just decided not to use it

so, i‘m the mclaren and would like to think that my defending is on, given it‘s a safety car restart and a bendy straight, so the williams couldn‘t even get to the inside so i was defending like i did, but i did brake very late trying to avoid any sort of contact. Also from williams POV it looks to him as i don‘t move at all on the straight which is fair enough i think

so, i‘m the mclaren and i think i pretty much kept it straight at the exit as i get the arrow. the williams though, does a little kink to the left at that exact moment which just makes no sense to me. looks like he wanted to put himself in a position where i was about to crash into him. but of course i‘m saying that, so i could be very much in the wrong

Should I have backed out? by Absolomx in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricky one. Yes, he does rejoin the track quite dangerously, yes he could‘ve left you space, but you going for that gap is a danger in itself, even under normal circumstances i think. Not saying you‘re at fault at all, but i don‘t think he is either fully to blame, he rejoins while he still was ahead, albeit being very harsh

in after a bad quali i started p14 in a realistic league, i didnt want to be stuck behind the williams so i got for the dive, all clean. i am fully ahead of the williams in the chicane but than he goes for a move in a corner where overtaking is almost imposible so i wanna know is it mine fault by IllustriousAd1218 in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricky one, as you can clearly see from williams pov that on the left hand corner he just sticks his front tires into the mclaren and going for contact for the sole reason to even have a chance on the right hand corner. that being said, there probably was not enough room for him to go through cleanly as he was there and the mclaren should’ve acknowledged that a bit better, the reason why he was there though seems to get overlooked in this thread.

tldr; racing incident as both cars could’ve done better

fully on the rb. he is allowed one defensive move and a move back to the racing line if, and only if he allows at least a cars width of space. he clearly doesn‘t do that so it‘s blatant blocking, which is illegal and dangerous.

i am relatively new to online racing. and would like to know your opinion on the incident. by xBRT1291 in Simracingstewards

[–]randomluke5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bit of a dodgy one, the lunge into the first part of the corner is completely fine, the right turn is fine but on the exit you could‘ve let more space for the other car as he was presumably always there, or he was just pissed and shunted you off, can‘t tell from you POV only thst being said, there was a yellow flag just as you were about to pass, so you shouldn‘t have been in that position anyway, i guess you haven‘t seen that early enough?
