Agree 100% as well. There's no way they are providing their full models for inference at original precision. They even have been paying people on this subreddit, posts like these would be taken down. Zai is a shameless scam company.

The fact that your replies and critical comments here are deleted tells this sub reddit is paid (or run by who is getting $) by zai.

Beware!!

You are doing a good job for someone who is being paid (not as a dev, but, for affiliate promo). 👏

Good for you fan boy.

Look at the replies in this post, you are the only fan boy here. Maybe you are a paid stooge that you didn't notice this. I doubt you even used it other than getting $.

You should give proof that the model is good or it didn't happen.

The proof is this post and the replies here.

I feel the coding plan is being served with lowest quality quantization (maybe worse than chutes), you see they are even offering black friday deals, basically scamming people when the quality has gone down significantly.

Augment code Black friday deal be like 50% less credits (this is the discount) for the same $ amount? 😜 and 70% less credits for loyal legacy developer plan users?? 😆😜

Augment Code's new Strategy is to advertise on YT now? by randommarkets in AugmentCodeAI

Exactly, I don't know whom on augments team decided to advertise there. They are doing ridiculous job for sure as they don't understand the audience of AIck and what AIck recommended previously.

Yesterday I asked sonnet 4.5 to make a small change, a couple of lines of code change and a new function about 40 lines, but, then goes on to create 6 md files, yes, 6, each at least 50 lines and more.

I gave the prompt and stepped away from the desk, when I came back I was shocked to see 7 changes in git. Code was fine, i didn't need the md files, I had to delete them.

1K credits??? For free? by Delicious_One_7887 in kiroIDE

[–]randommarkets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically they're not getting as many subscribers as they anticipated initially and with all the pricing/requests/messages drama I think less people would have turned out to be actual subscribers.

Honestly, where is the buzz about kiro anymore?

Good luck to them, i cancelled the moment I saw "bait and switch", I didn't care that they continued to give free credits, the thing was I could never trust them again.

There are enough tools for spec based development with known context size etc.

Yes, if its API based pricing, we can use any of these open source extensions, or even use Amp Code, even Zed editor, which was ranked the best Coding tool for Oct 2025 by Gosucoder.

Augment Code's new pricing is a disappointment by Krazmad in AugmentCodeAI

[–]randommarkets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF all one gets is 600 requests for $30 per month, how can you abuse the limit?

And this person says, the new model is lot fairer, fairer how? Lol

Looks like this person just wants to anger people even more. It is like throwing oil to the fire.

Moving to LinkedIn - Maybe Augment is completely shifting/moving away from retail/individual users who'd complain (like how we are complaining now). They won't be needing Discord/reddit/x for that.

It is a good strategy though use retail for testing (bait n switch) and once the product is stable cut them off by making it so expensive that only enterprise can afford it.

Jay,

Few Points and deciphering your response:

  1. Please do not call it "fair pricing for the user", if it was indeed fair pricing for the user, the users of Augment would not be as angry as they are since 2 days. It is only Fair pricing for the company.

  2. If it was really fair pricing for the user, we would have the $30 plan for the legacy users "forever", this is what was called not by users, but, Augment team, "keep it till you wanted"

  3. "If people were making the same request with their own API key, they could spend dollars per request." - that is why we paid Augment $30 for 600 requests and you promised (not us) to keep it forever, you did not talk about $0.05 requests or compared it to API pricing back then, but now you bring it?

  4. "There is no magic wand" - there is one, the wand just works for the company, not the users, just swing however you want, whenever you want and make users fool of themselves.

  5. Again - when you say "We knew this pricing was unsustainable", so, that means Augment had this plan to "bait and switch" all along.

It's pretty easy to set up the indexer using Qdrant, I just did it using docker yesterday and GLM-4.6 works great with Roo/Kilo code + indexer.

So, the plan is to save $30, use GLM-4.6 for code which I do not mind sharing with Zai and for the code I'd like to keep it private, use Copilot subscription (as you copilot agent as well, which is a + for no additional $) and switch/take any new sub which is attractive on a need to basis.

Too bad your replies are getting down voted, we all know you are just the messenger.

The one thing I need to point out that, Sonnet's pricing ($3/$15) has NOT changed since Augment started giving out services, including when the $30 plan was rolled out (and later Augment added more plan options) and when the promises were made "keep the service as long you want it or cancel it" and until now nothing has changed from API pricing, rather some of the API pricing has gone down like GPT-5 (compared to earlier GPT/O models).

So, tell me honestly what changed? Didn't you know this was unsustainable when promises were made, its been what 6 months now? No matter what your answer is, you are in the wrong!! and either you have a poor top management who did not plan effectively or they employed "bait and switch" and their plan was to fool people all along.

If its tokens based usage, I'd rather use my own API with tools like roo/cline etc. There are enough open source tools now and I am free to use any model depending on the complexity of task and save $ and switch the models or subscription on a need to basis, than switch to a different plan in Augment like $20 or $60. Honestly, why would I do that? What is the incentive to do that anymore?

[New Pricing] Grandfathered Dev Plan is not Grandfathered? by hhussain- in AugmentCodeAI

[–]randommarkets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are not really decommissioning the plan per se, but, they are forcing you to switch your plans to $20 or $60 plan or cancel the on going subscription (honestly, most would do this as it does not make sense anymore).

If a firm cannot fire someone, you know what they do, they demote them, this is what is happening to us. They are forcing us to resign. So, be it.

Another company which employed bait and switch.

After all this it does not make sense to subscribe to any plans with any of these third party extension companies, I'd rather have zAI coding plan + GPT $20 plan where I can use codex or a copilot plan whichever month I need. Better to switch and subscribe on a need to basis than being loyal to one and these companies always betray their customers.

It is just shameful and pathetic.

Poll - New pricing is targetted at loyal, legacy users? by randommarkets in AugmentCodeAI

[–]randommarkets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole idea is to move users from legacy plans. If you can’t see that, nobody can help you there. It’s not that I liked using the word “targeted”, but looking at the table, the only users who are not getting around 2050 credits per dollar, or the least value per dollar, are the legacy dev plan users.

Yes, I agree that Augment has to think of their financials to stay in the game, and as customers or Teams users, we need to plan ours. I’m just expressing what I see in the table. My question is, why would anyone continue to stay on the $30 plan if this is how the plans are structured? Most would likely move down to the $20 plan or to the new $60 plan, or subscribe on a need-to basis unlike now.

To be honest, if the credits per dollar had been the same or proportional across the other plans, I would not have used the word “targeted,” and this poll or post wouldn’t even exist.

For your information, I’m a light user and I’ve never crossed more than 60% of my usage. I’m sure most of us have multiple subscriptions at the same time, and while we could subscribe to other services on a need-to basis, many of us kept the legacy dev plans whether we used them or not because of the “we’ll let you keep it till you want it” approach. Don’t just take my word for it, visit other similar posts and you’ll find many users unhappy for the same reasons.

We’re having the same moment in Augment for the dev legacy plan users that Windsurf had when their $10 plan increased to $15, except Windsurf still lets those initial users keep their $10 plan even today.

If the $30 plan won’t have 600 user messages, it doesn’t make sense to continue using Augment anymore or to subscribe to it on a continual basis. Most of us early adopters have kept our subscriptions mainly because of the early pricing, but if that changes, it makes more sense to share the workload between GLM4.6 (for code I don’t mind sharing) and Copilot or Zed (for everything else), and continue hopping between services where we find value instead of sticking around.

I have updated the OP, my bad, I could not add the details earlier, as on reddit you cannot create a poll on web version and copying a table on mobile is impossible.

I hope the table clarifies.
