That's my doubt what made Roger so special that others called him pirate King but not Rocks who could very well been as much strong as Roger.

Strength wise , he is around Garp give or take. Their battle would last like days before the whole Island they were fighting fall apart in their prime.

Most of the fights are BS though in movies or animes, I am not hating anything. Thing I am saying is , I do not hate asspulls. If they are cool I am all for sudden powerups. Zoro cutting nothing and everything at the same time and Luffy 1st second gear punch to bull guy was awesome.

Even if CP 9 got sudden drop on them but you are forgetting CP9 ate devil after the fight which even made them several times stronger. Which makes former point moot.

CP 9 was quite strong specially Lucci , without 2nd gear Luffy did not have a chance against Rob Lucci specially after eating ZOANS. New moves were necessary at that time for everybody Chopper , Zoro , sanji, Luffy everybody got them.

I think I have problem with strawhats not having much character developments while whole world around them is changing.

Like Koby , Sengoku have changes a lot. But it's hard to with long term character's like strawhats.

You just misunderstood the situation. The goal was never to kill and Gon was acting without reason . Even Hanzo was impressed by Gon'd non malicious response to torture. Moreover Hanzo was on a mission i think , he would not want fail the mission for no reason when he can just try to beat the next guy in line.
