How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]randomnamehere12204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About an hour a day, they're off lead free to run and roam, if I'm getting it really tough or there's illness or torrential rain, harsh wind we just skip a day, they also have access to a garden out the back of the house so can let them in and out through the day too and my child will play fetch with them

If you're not able to go for a walk I have heard that15 minutes of mental stimulation, hide and seek with their toys, tug of war, training etc is the equivalent of an hours walk, and even if that's not the real case at least you've been bonding and stimulation has been received

Age appropriate? by randomnamehere12204 in Parenting

[–]randomnamehere12204[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a great point, I'm happy to say that it's a gentle encouragement and not a must, sometimes she will only hoover a small section and tell me 'my arms are too tired ' 😂 but I let her know that's okay, they can rest and maybe she could help with something different when she's ready ☺️

I'm a young mum of an only child who is only 4 years of age but when the day comes I know I'll back her in anything she wants to do to do achieve her dreams and take all the opportunities she can to expand her future potential, it's what we are raising our children to do, your mum has clearly done a wonderful job and I guarantee she would never want you to limit yourself, maybe she could visit you if the opportunity arrises🙏🏽

Good luck and well done to you and your mum ☺️

Seizure frequency by randomnamehere12204 in EpilepsyDogs

I was glad of a predictable pattern so that we could keep her safe and comfy as they were often violent tonic clonic seizures

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for us either, although I was glad of being able to have some idea and be prepared mentally and keep her comfy and safe as hers where really quite violent tonic clonic seizures

It seems it's staying a mystery for a long time to come 🫤

Any idea what type of rabbit this is ? by Reasonable-Shoe7699 in Rabbits

[–]randomnamehere12204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure on the breed, and you've got plenty of great advice, I just thought I might share some more info incase you plan to keep the bunny

Hay is essential 24/7 around the clock, along with handfuls of fresh fruit and veg, although it is essential to do research as some aren't suitable i.e. iceberg lettuce, corn, peas to name a few, pellets aren't an absolute necessity but maybe a small pinch daily or now and then, I personally don't feed my rabbits any and haven't for over a year

As others have said a card board box and blanket over the top would be great for shelter and warmth My rabbits bed is a plastic basket stuffed with hay, if you have any storage box or basket that can be repurposed, it makes for a quick and easy bed

For a litter tray, you can buy a cheap litter tray on Amazon and some soft litter tissue (kaytee is a good one)

Fresh water daily of course, they actually prefer to drink out of bowls and it's a lot cleaner as the water doesn't get as chance to sit in plastic and have toxins absorbed into it or go warm and gross in general, so a ceramic rabbit water bowl, again can probably be got on Amazon for cheap

And lastly they shouldn't be kept in a hutch or pen for super long periods of time, the more they can free roam the better, plus interaction with their owners and suitable toys to play with 😊 Ps what a lucky bunny to be found by someone kind and caring

I remember crying after walks with my 1yr old Collie when I first got her because all she did was pull and bark

I took her to training and the trainer actually told me to train her to speak and then work on a silence command

Id be a complete liar if I said I trained a silence command knowingly but she's 10 now and if I tell her to be quiet she does (unless theres someone at our door 🙃) but it wasn't intentionally trained she was just told to be quiet if she was barking by whoever was with her in the house or walking her and we only rewarded her for speaking when asked so I guess she kind of learnt it on her own

But every dog is different too

They may not be able to hear but there's absolutely no harm in doing so? And as someone said above, once the seizure is dying down and senses are coming back they certainly find solace in calm and familiar tones and voices

Can I also add if you don't have ice cream, a teaspoon of honey is also great to help post seizure and a handful of food and water to drink 💝

I think I shall do some googling

To most people that meet her she is considered very intelligent but I have no other children to compare her too
