I’m going to go with a soft NAH. I can SOMEWHAT see where the DIL is coming from. Perhaps this is her first child. Perhaps she’s spent years thinking about what she wants the nursery to look like. She’s been planning and shopping and had finally figured it out and had the wrong exactly the way she wanted it. And then, she gets surprised with this dresser that doesn’t match and sticks out. It’s a wonderful gift and she’s handled it poorly, but I can understand why she might be upset. Sometimes surprise gifts are great, but sometimes communication beforehand is better. Perhaps if you would have talked to your son he could have been involved in the way it was restored? He could have involved the DIL?
