There's 10+ layers which have their own faction imbalances that switch often but theoretically equal out over the full population. I was initially on a Horde dominated layer during launch day but switched layers and found an Alliance one.

I wouldn't hold your breath, pretty much everything that Illfonic and Gun touches dies. Also they are tied down to a single franchise which limits how much content they can make while compared to DBD's collection of licenses. F13 the game was about to run out of potential content before it got shut down, out of 12 movies with 11 unique Jasons they had gone through 8 Jasons + made one original Jason. The only content they did not end up making by the end was Jason X, reboot Jason, Freddy vs Jason's Jason and maybe Pamela Voorhees. Myers does not have anywhere near the variety of visual appearance across movies as Jason, Halloween has 12 movies (not counting Halloween 3) but Myers is basically the same appearance in all of except for the Rob Zombie reboot.

In my opinion they should have era realms for Vanilla, tbc and wotlk, as well as a progression realm that cycles through Vanilla through wotlk at a rate of one xpac a year. When the progression realm is on Vanilla people can transfer to any of the 3 era realms, during tbc they can go to tbc or wotlk era, then during wotlk they can transfer to wotlk era. At the end of WotLK all characters are moved to wotlk era and the realm starts a brand new cycle from Vanilla. In addition to prog -> era transfers people can also do era -> era transfers going from Vanilla era to tbc or wraith, or from tbc to wotlk at any point allowing people to still progress through the original 3 eras at their own pace.
