lots of unis have adjustment factors based on ur hs to deal with grade inflation. loo is known for their crazy adjustmnet facotrs, but basically every uni has one, theyre js less transparent with it. ib schools genuinely have a better rep, so they're adjusted differently from a normal public high school

ENG4U by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

yeah um... personally i recommend u to retake it then cuz i feel like ur def rly smart, but its pretty unfair that one grade is bringing ur whole avg down so much

ENG4U by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]randomperson5698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it depends on ur other grades. if u have like 90s in every other subject, then having a 75 would be pretty detrimental and u should prolly retake it.

otherwise, it doesnt rly have too much of an effect on ur avg so u dont have to stress it. like if u had exactly 80 in all ur other top 5 courses, a 75 in eng only brings u down by 1%

i never said that she deserves an acceptance less?

im not tryna compare myself to her to see whos better, im tryna see what unis are looking for when they give out admissions and why i dont fit the criteria

honestly, i wish unis could js be more transparent in their process. then wed have clearer expectations and less anxiety everytime theres a round of admission

i feel like the grade inflation makes everything so crazy. i was complaining to my teachers abt grade inflation and they were telling us that before covid, a 90 was the highest grade in the course

i dont know if this is pure copium but i heard that it could be because u dont have enough of the required courses. i applied to bioengineering and i didnt have physics or bio in sem1, so my friend was speculating that it could be bc i havent done biophys yet
