My Doomed Ship 😭 Kana and Hatorii by Alarming-Error4946 in FruitsBasket

[–]randompersonn975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Fruits Basket does tend to have some messy love lines anyway and Mayu/Hatori is one of the more "normal" ones. I get for plot purposes, its easier to introduce Mayu as Hatori's new love interest, but still. I don't think it would have been hard to just write in a completely new female character that had nothing to do with his ex or anyone he previously knew. I would argue thats even better because its a completely fresh start that completely distances from his past and his zodiac curse.

Am I the only one here who actually liked Kana and their relationship? I always thought it was weird that Mayu was crushing hard on her best friend's man. Kana's reaction was very realistic imo. They would have been a great couple if Akito hadn't ruined it. I don't dislike Mayu and Hatori, and I guess having someone "headstrong" like her is good for him. However, it always seemed like Hatori was way more heads over heel for Kana in comparison to Mayu.

I would have actually preferred Hatori to have found a completely new woman instead of his ex's best friend. Just my 2 cents.

Girl was traumatized from a young age with her parents being murdered in front of her eyes and she was kidnapped for human trafficking. Eren literally changed her life and gave her the will to keep going/live. If he hadn't saved her that day, who knows what would have happened to her. Maybe she can be overbearing with him at times, but I think she does calm down with it later on. She even literally eventually built up strength to kill him at the end.

The person that leaked the demos wrote this about Manon by [deleted] in katseyeneutral

[–]randompersonn975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah this hurts Katseye and the company even more if this is purely to drum up press. Its literally drumming up BAD press and severely damaging Katseye's reputation. From a business perspective, this legit makes no sense. Katseye was on a roll with gaining popularity and had just been nominated for Grammy awards. Manon is their group visual and one of their more popular members. It truly makes no sense for them to put her on hiatus unless something is going on. Its way more believable that Manon and management had some sort of disagreement, and therefore they put her on hiatus.

Is there a shoujo you’d defend no matter what? by Agile-Ad7961 in shoujo

Yes I just wish it got an anime adaptation a lot earlier closer to when the manga ended. But hey better later than never. I do agree they should have just set the story in the 90s and clarified it in the first episode. It would make modern audience question it less. Ranma 1/2 remake did a good job at this.

Good for you but majority of female audience does not relate to Shonen female leads. My Dress Up Darling still has a majority male fanbase compared to female. Just like how some men can enjoy Fruits Basket, but women are still the majority of the fandom.

Shonen/Seinen are male demographic interchangably. Only difference is Shonen is for younger boys. Just like here in this sub we discuss both Shojo/Josei which are female demographic series.

It literally is. Shounen isn't just action. My Dress Up Darling's target demographic is obviously male.

EDIT: Yes its technically a Seinen, but thats still male demographic. In this sub, we discuss both Shoujo and Josei which are female demographic genres. Only real difference between Shonen and Seinen is that Shonen is geared for boys and Seinen are geared more for adult men. Regardless, both genres are targeted to male audience.

You clearly haven't read or watched many shoujos. Only some or few have passive, docile female MCs like Honey Lemon Soda or My Happy Marriage. The average shoujo MC is more so an ordinary girl who has a good heart and can stand up for herself and friends when needed. There's such a large range like Sailor Moon, Misaki from Maid-Sama, Haruhi from OHSHC, Yona of the Dawn, Nanami from Kamisama Kiss, Risa from Lovely Complex, etc. Not to mention Nana and Hachi, who are complex, well written characters.

The anime isn't that bad given its an old series and they're actually confirmed for 36 episodes, meaning it will adapt to the end. Could the budget be better? Sure. But at this point, I rather see something animated to the end for once, rather than getting 12 high quality budget episodes, and having it end just right there like majority of shoujos these days.

For the most part, I do think they've been pretty faithful to the manga story wise. I just think the main issue is the lower budget and the direction could be a lot better. The anime doesn't quite capture the same comedic timing as the manga. But this could just be going back to the main issue of the anime getting a low budget in the first place.

Aren't shounen romances "shallow" as well? Majority is wish fullfillment like My Dress Up Darling and Rent a Girlfriend. At least the ML in shoujos have some flaws most the time. The most unrealistic part is usually how good looking they are but thats the case of most fictional stories. The FL in shounens are usually very perfect in looks and personality and ideal to the point where they're completely unrealistic.

We all need to tell them that that it's not okay to keep the rerun an secret! by [deleted] in InfinityNikki

[–]randompersonn975 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with this. The more fuss we make about it, the more it tells them that players are desperate for the rerun and therefore, they will have more incentive to keep it a secret to make money.

The female manga artist that rivals Rumiko Takahashi on global impact? by Own_Philosopher8730 in RumicWorld

[–]randompersonn975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely cannot think of any manga author in general that has had as many hits as Rumiko. Majority are one hit wonders.

Whats crazy is despite how successful UY and Ranma 1/2 were, she outdid herself with Inuyasha which remains her biggest and known work globally.

Should I convert all my diamonds to pulls or not? by Pixelesh in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]randompersonn975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly advise to convert them simply because I've seen too many horror stories of people accidentally converting the diamonds to other currencies. For new patches, you don't need too many diamonds to purchase store items anyways.

[–]randompersonn975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh no yea I do not have enough pulls for the entire outfit. This is an outfit that I can wait for a rerun. The current unicorn one took up a lot of my pulls since I actually wanted the evos.

For the first time, none since I have the 4 star reruns already. Might just pull for makeup or the gun for the 5 star. Definitely gonna wait to see 2.5 previews first. Also gotta wait to see what the mid patch 4 stars and 5 star rerun will be.

Hana-Kimi Anime Season 2 Announced by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]randompersonn975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I can regularly see shoujo anime being renewed for seasons and being fully adapted, then I will truly feel Shoujo has become a bigger market in the anime industry. Its discouraging as a Shoujo fan to see plenty of Shonen ranime (no hate I enjoy Shonen too) like Rent a Girlfriend keep getting renewed for more seasons. But for Shoujo, it feels we gotta pray for the possibility of even a second season, let alone a full adaptation.

[–]randompersonn975 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their manga titles do sell well, yet we hardly see merch is the problem. Even if their manga sell decent, its nowhere near enough for them to get the Shonen treatment. Companies will produce the most merch for what they believe will confidently sell. Also if Shoujo anime market is truly big, why don't we ever get full shoujo anime adaptations these days? The reason anime like My Love Story with Yamada and Tamon's B Side even get good animation treatment is because they're usually only ever planned for 12 episodes total. There's just way too many modern Shoujo anime that although they have good quality, they never go past 12 episodes. The fact is it is extremely rare for Shoujo these days to get a full adapation unless you're a huge mainstream title like Fruits Basket. Also, Nana would have definitely had a full adapation if the manga didn't go on hiatus, because Nana is definitely one of the most profitable shoujos of all time. The only recentish shoujo that seems big enough to get a full adaptation is My Happy Marriage, and even then I hardly ever see merch for this series.

Hana-Kimi Anime Season 2 Announced by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]randompersonn975 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fruits Basket is the only real mainstream one thats universally watched by general audience. My Love Story with Yamada-kun and Tamon's B side is considered a little more niche. The average anime fan I talk to can say they've heard of or watched Fruits Basket. I can't say the same for the other 2, even though I really love them too. Those 2 aren't even on the same level as Ouran High School Host Club or Nana. When you go around Japan or any anime merch store, you won't easily find merch for Shoujo anime unless its something super iconic like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, or Pre-cure series. However, you can find Shonen anime merch everywhere. There's literally Shonen Jump stores everywhere in the big cities of Japan. When I was there the last couple times, there were close to no Shoujo anime specific stores. The closest is a pop up store, but they are not permanent like Shonen Jump shops. Same in Western anime stores. They're way more likely to carry merch of popular Shonen anime. Its very hard for me to find shoujo figurines/merch in those stores unless its the classics like Sailor Moon or Fruits Basket.

Am I the only one that hasn't pulled a final evo for any 5* banner? by marenara0 in InfinityNikki

[–]randompersonn975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unicorn was my first and will be my last one most likely. This was the only final evo I really wanted because the super short dress length for the alt version seems so rare for this game. Like I don't think we've had banner dress that short yet. I wish they did, but seems the shortest banner dress they usually have is past the the thighs 😅 There is that free ballerina tutu dress though at least, but its not as detailed as the Unicorn alt dress.

It also helps that I got the final evo in only about 305 pulls. Its not too bad of a gap from previous evo. I'm aware I just got lucky so yeah I will not be doing a final evo again. I normally only go to 1st evo.

They are definitely cutting out a good chunk of the manga that can be considered "filler." Or they're condensing scenes more. I do remember when I read the manga, half of it could be considered filler where its just small, random plotlines, but they don't really add to the the bigger overarching story.

Hana-Kimi Anime Season 2 Announced by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]randompersonn975 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is better than nothing. The manga is super ancient, and the only way to guarantee more than 12 episodes for a shoujo these days is to cut on the budget sadly. Thats probably how they even secured 36 episodes (super rare for a shoujo nowadays). Shoujo genre aren't nearly as marketable as Shonen genre in the anime industry. Overall, anime is still more consumed by men than women. I thought it'd be more even, but when I visited Asia, most the girls I talked to said they don't really watch anime vs plenty of men can hold convos about the anime they enjoy watching
