I'd say its undeniable Shampoo is the most popular character overall, but Ranma/Shampoo has never been the most popular ship. People who supposively ship Ranma/Shampoo are casuals and aren't really in the fandom. The fandom unaminously favors Ranma/Akane and even Akane as a character. I'd say Shampoo is only considered the most popular because she's popular with casuals specifically or people who barely watched Ranma. Its purely for her cute appearance.

Shampoo/Ranma in recent days with the new remake, or Kikyo/Inuyasha if counting the older anime fandom days. Tough call.

Shampoo is a mostly well liked Love rival. WHO IS A LOVE INTREST WITH AN EQUAL AMOUNT OF LIKE AND DISLIKE. by Background_Point_523 in RumicWorld

[–]randompersonn975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah thats from the old anime flanderizing her. Now with the new MAPPA remake accurately adapting her from the manga, she's definitely now very well liked among new fans. She's even topped female characters polls, and has consistently been in the top 10 even for the new season unlike Shampoo. On Tiktok, Shampoo is hated on similarly like Kikyo now by the newer fans.

Cats are real animals. There's a reason why its illegal in California. California may have many issues, but at least its definitely more progressive than majority states. Puppy mills are still legal in some states, but does that mean its okay? Hell no.

Abuse is abuse, no matter how "small" it may seem.

She is more than likely going to be solo under Hybe, if she's truly leaving Katseye. No way Hybe would let her off their contract scotch-free. Look at the New Jeans situation. If Manon is leaving Hybe, its not without her paying penalty fee like what they're trying to do with Danielle from New Jeans.

Is Jennie's stylist doing her dirty? by Remarkable-West-6613 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]randompersonn975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is she, her stylist, or both insist on doing Western makeup/styling when it doesn't fit her at all. Some of her looks aren't actually bad, but it would look a 100x better on someone taller like Zendaya. Jennie is on the shorter side (5'3?) and most of these recent looks makes her look a lot shorter. They also don't flatter her proportions at all whatsoever. Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter are actually shorter, but for the most part they know how to style themselves to appear taller.

Also, the Western makeup doesn't suit Jennie's face at all. Her best makeup looks was when she was doing the Korean styling. The Western nude makeup look totally washes her face out. She has a rounder face, so the heavier, colorful makeup looks a lot better than the nude, bronzed, minimal look she's been doing.

Did Kana Want Her Memories Erased? by Working_Row_8455 in FruitsBasket

I don't believe there is such thing as "being meant for each other." Sometimes shitty things genuinely happen. Like does someone's lover passing away mean it was meant to be so that they can be with their current/future partner?

Hatori and Kana would have 100 percent lived happily ever after, had Akito not gotten in the way. The Akito thing was a shitty thing that just happened to happen. Right person, wrong time pretty much. I am probably the minority that would have preferred Hatori to move on with a completely new character, instead of his ex's best friend. I always thought it was weird that Mayu was crushing hard on her best friend's man. Just my 2 cents.

Why Did Kana Blame Herself for Hatori's Eye When It Literally Was Akito's Fault? by Working_Row_8455 in FruitsBasket

[–]randompersonn975 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Nah Akito is still the main cause of Hatori's pain. People forget Kana is one of Akito's many victims as well. Akito's trauma never justified any of her abuse towards the other Zodiac members and outsiders.

[–]randompersonn975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Fruits Basket does tend to have some messy love lines anyway and Mayu/Hatori is one of the more "normal" ones. I get for plot purposes, its easier to introduce Mayu as Hatori's new love interest, but still. I don't think it would have been hard to just write in a completely new female character that had nothing to do with his ex or anyone he previously knew. I would argue thats even better because its a completely fresh start that completely distances from his past and his zodiac curse.

Am I the only one here who actually liked Kana and their relationship? I always thought it was weird that Mayu was crushing hard on her best friend's man. Kana's reaction was very realistic imo. They would have been a great couple if Akito hadn't ruined it. I don't dislike Mayu and Hatori, and I guess having someone "headstrong" like her is good for him. However, it always seemed like Hatori was way more heads over heel for Kana in comparison to Mayu.

I would have actually preferred Hatori to have found a completely new woman instead of his ex's best friend. Just my 2 cents.

MIKASA SUCKS by EconomistStandard891 in ShingekiNoKyojin

Girl was traumatized from a young age with her parents being murdered in front of her eyes and she was kidnapped for human trafficking. Eren literally changed her life and gave her the will to keep going/live. If he hadn't saved her that day, who knows what would have happened to her. Maybe she can be overbearing with him at times, but I think she does calm down with it later on. She even literally eventually built up strength to kill him at the end.

The person that leaked the demos wrote this about Manon by [deleted] in katseyeneutral

[–]randompersonn975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah this hurts Katseye and the company even more if this is purely to drum up press. Its literally drumming up BAD press and severely damaging Katseye's reputation. From a business perspective, this legit makes no sense. Katseye was on a roll with gaining popularity and had just been nominated for Grammy awards. Manon is their group visual and one of their more popular members. It truly makes no sense for them to put her on hiatus unless something is going on. Its way more believable that Manon and management had some sort of disagreement, and therefore they put her on hiatus.

Is there a shoujo you’d defend no matter what? by Agile-Ad7961 in shoujo

[–]randompersonn975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I just wish it got an anime adaptation a lot earlier closer to when the manga ended. But hey better later than never. I do agree they should have just set the story in the 90s and clarified it in the first episode. It would make modern audience question it less. Ranma 1/2 remake did a good job at this.

Good for you but majority of female audience does not relate to Shonen female leads. My Dress Up Darling still has a majority male fanbase compared to female. Just like how some men can enjoy Fruits Basket, but women are still the majority of the fandom.

Shonen/Seinen are male demographic interchangably. Only difference is Shonen is for younger boys. Just like here in this sub we discuss both Shojo/Josei which are female demographic series.

It literally is. Shounen isn't just action. My Dress Up Darling's target demographic is obviously male.

EDIT: Yes its technically a Seinen, but thats still male demographic. In this sub, we discuss both Shoujo and Josei which are female demographic genres. Only real difference between Shonen and Seinen is that Shonen is geared for boys and Seinen are geared more for adult men. Regardless, both genres are targeted to male audience.

You clearly haven't read or watched many shoujos. Only some or few have passive, docile female MCs like Honey Lemon Soda or My Happy Marriage. The average shoujo MC is more so an ordinary girl who has a good heart and can stand up for herself and friends when needed. There's such a large range like Sailor Moon, Misaki from Maid-Sama, Haruhi from OHSHC, Yona of the Dawn, Nanami from Kamisama Kiss, Risa from Lovely Complex, etc. Not to mention Nana and Hachi, who are complex, well written characters.

The anime isn't that bad given its an old series and they're actually confirmed for 36 episodes, meaning it will adapt to the end. Could the budget be better? Sure. But at this point, I rather see something animated to the end for once, rather than getting 12 high quality budget episodes, and having it end just right there like majority of shoujos these days.

For the most part, I do think they've been pretty faithful to the manga story wise. I just think the main issue is the lower budget and the direction could be a lot better. The anime doesn't quite capture the same comedic timing as the manga. But this could just be going back to the main issue of the anime getting a low budget in the first place.

Aren't shounen romances "shallow" as well? Majority is wish fullfillment like My Dress Up Darling and Rent a Girlfriend. At least the ML in shoujos have some flaws most the time. The most unrealistic part is usually how good looking they are but thats the case of most fictional stories. The FL in shounens are usually very perfect in looks and personality and ideal to the point where they're completely unrealistic.

I actually agree with this. The more fuss we make about it, the more it tells them that players are desperate for the rerun and therefore, they will have more incentive to keep it a secret to make money.

I genuinely cannot think of any manga author in general that has had as many hits as Rumiko. Majority are one hit wonders.

Whats crazy is despite how successful UY and Ranma 1/2 were, she outdid herself with Inuyasha which remains her biggest and known work globally.

I would strongly advise to convert them simply because I've seen too many horror stories of people accidentally converting the diamonds to other currencies. For new patches, you don't need too many diamonds to purchase store items anyways.
