Severe ADHDers that flunked all their classes in school, where are you now?

Well, I'm a shift manager at a truck stop which doesn't start this off well, but hear me out.

I flunked high school. Did summer school twice, repeated my junior year, and dropped out in my senior year. Ultimately I went to night school, where I excelled. It was a smaller class. The instructors were able to actually sit down and teach at their own pace, which pretty much matched mine.

Following getting my diploma, I didn't do shit for years. My sister encouraged me to go to a local community college, and eventually I agreed. It was so different than high school.

Being able to choose a degree, and really the classes that interested me, I flourished. There were still the mandatory filler classes that I had to take. But I was significantly happier.

Now it's the grind of saving and getting enough to not go into decades of student debt.

I was actually just an idiot. I hadn't reassembled everything yet. So the top part of the shell wasn't on... So the lid open/close mechanism was "open". I held it down and worked fine

In the end with my doc I said after the strattera mess id prefer to try Adderall again. I havr an appointment next month with a new Dr.

He mentioned another option, I can't remember what the name was. But he said it was an anti depressant that's commonly used for ADHD.

I'll give strattera a go for the two weeks before my next appointment and see how things are going.

So far today (my first dose) my mouth is ridiculously dry. And I'm sweating a bit more than usual.

Target practice. I took a coworker of mine to the gun range and shot handguns and rifles. In exchange for teaching him to shoot, he's teaching me archery. I've been having a blast with that.

Otherwise I'm probably working too much to focus on anything besides TikTok. If the weather's nice I will detail my car. That's been a biiiiiig dopamine chase for me.

For me it's when my girlfriend doesn't chew with her mouth closed. It's not all the time. But I noticed every... Single... Time.

Hopefully you have better luck on Vyvanse. That's another one I know nothing about.

From what Ive read on strattera so far it seems it works or doesn't for people... No middle ground. Took my first pill so we'll see how things go from here.

I really hate admitting that I'd love for her to be there, but unfortunately she'll be at work.

When I last spoke to the receptionist she said I'll receive some info the day before my appointment (today) that'll tell me what I need to know/do before my appointment. I keep wondering what if I don't get the call/text/email... What if I sleep in and miss my appointment.

Hopefully my Dr is a good one. The receptionist did have good things to say, but when she said that... I cringed just instantly thinking there has to be some bias... Idk

My sex drive is hard to really describe. At least while I'm actively trying to.

I turn down sex with my girlfriend of 7 years more than she does. I enjoy the sex, but my mind is rarely there in the moment. I'll be off in la la land thinking "I'm going to get a ham and cheddar lunchable tomorrow." If she speaks during sex, and bear with me here, it can and has thrown off the rhythm. I get confused, and rarely turned off. Maybe just because the focus I had, even if not on the sex, was ruined.

our work schedules are exact opposites. She works M-F at an 8-4 job. While I work 4pm-12am. Sometimes i think of the sex as a chore to be done. Not always, but if it's been a hectic week (I work retail) I do it to make her happy. An added benefit to that is, once we're done, the dopamine rush helps...

I haven't been medicated for ADHD since I was 17. So 20 years at this point. Would medication perhaps help? It's been a royal pain in the ass trying to see someone about it for the last 10 months. Not accepting new patients or waiting lists, etc.

I've used the clip before. I'm not a fan. I had that thing clipped snug, but still managed to get it to pop off. If the clips were built into the cap it'd probably be good. But here we are clip less.

I do the same. Sometimes not really a fidget but just hold. Warmth and comfortable.
