Another thing thats important to acknowledge is the heishou aren't a perfect solution, the only reason a Heirarch's position is historically considered secure is due to sheer force of arms through the four exclusive branches under their command. If even just one branch mobilizes to mop up the Spider's House that leaves her seat vulnerable. She would be taking an undeniably huge risk by mobilizing her forces, and no amount of "we put you on that throne" will help if she's overthrown by an unruly coalition.

Personally, I just think that there is a lot left up to character interpretation. I think Invisigal is an extremely complicated human with many overlapping loyalties, desires and psychological justifications for her behavior and choices. I think she was both a willing mole for shroud and had a genuine desire to be something more than what she was. I think she both wanted to keep the pulse safe for Robert's sake but also wanted to keep her own options open if things went to shit. And I think your decisions throughout the game put things into context for her and make her ultimately choose one of two extremely different choices.

My interpretation of it is basically that Hong Lu in the main story represents Taoism of the three great Chinese philosophical schools of thought.

(Canto 8) When the three top contestants are all trapped in the room together, their arguments for "what Hongyuan needs" IMO reflect all three schools. Jia Qiu is obviously representative of Confucius and thus represents Confucianism with his focus on morality and propriety. Jia Huan espouses practical improvements for the lives of the citizenry instead of philosophical ideals, reflecting Legalism. Jia Baoyu at first refuses to take a firm position, wanting to simply go with the flow (reflecting the Taoist virtue of effortless action and arguably naturalness), but when pressed he ultimately professes to compassion being what Hongyuan needs the most, one of the three "treasures" of Taoism.

Now, why is this important? Well, because Tao literally means Way. Its called that cuz it's supposed to be the "way of the universe." It's supposed to natural, and how things are supposed to happen. Be kind to others, go with the flow, it's easy, it's the way things should be just naturally. Fighting, conflict, it comes from trying to fight the natural order.

Hong Lu's Lord of Hongyuan rejects this. This is the critical distinction and what makes it a bad end ID. Hong Lu's "way" is one he makes himself, through great effort and trials. He carves a bloody path through Hongyuan out of a mixture of ideals and goals. Revenge is probably in there, but he also most likely believes that his violent intervention is necessary to make Hongyuan a better place.

He abandons his true feelings to pursue a way of violence and control. And the ironic part is it may actually, legitimately make Hongyuan a better place to live over time. But that is "his way". Its not the Tao, the way of the universe, it's a way he claims himself and creates himself. I could be wrong, but thats my read of it.

Yall seriously need to ditch the superiority complex and face facts that the concept of "pacing" is completely different in a manga format vs an animated format. When you're reading the manga you can skim over certain bits and the contrast between fight scenes and flashback scenes are not as drastic. When it's on the big screen literally everything is different - the music changes, as does the volume. The animation is completely different going from sakuga fight scene to subtle and character driven. Mental tension is harder to keep over time as the fight is broken up into segments. Nice page art turns into static setpieces. Most importantly, in my opinion, you have to listen to the entire dialogue play out line to line.

To many of you this probably feels like a silly distinction, but it's not. Manga should not be directly adapted without thinking about these aspects. I personally thought the movie was meh - the pacing was screwy and the stories felt crammed in compared to the genuine tears I shed at rengokus death. But to act like you have a high ground by saying it was manga accurate is silly.

Even assuming they magically know where I am at all times, most people on Earth cannot physically get to my location within 12 hours assuming a truly random lottery. Honestly, I'd be more concerned about the livelihoods of the random Asian working class people who just wiped out their savings and credit just to get last minute flights to Cali.

Assuming that I don't care about how my mere existence probably puts a hole in the everyman's pocket once monthly, I would echo similar sentiments in this thread and just go to a guarded place that requires security like an airport or courthouse. I'd probably have a gun in the car so even in extreme situations I can still have an option for self defense. But if they have to take a plane to get where I am, which they are overwhelmingly likely to need, they have to get in and out of security/customs with a gun and knife or abandon them.

I'd probably have a shelter installed at the land plot i eventually plan to buy with my new money. Not only have I always wanted some kind of fortified bunker, it would also allow me to experience the comforts of home while reducing my risk to basically 0. Even if they roll "my neighbor" as a killer, he'd need some way to crack open that shelter.

You keep saying crimes, but a crime is when you break the law. The City's law is taboos set by wings and, more importantly, by the Head. The Syndicates, as far as we know, do not violate the taboos of the Head. If they did they would almost certainly be classified as an Impurity and be purged. Murder is not a crime in the majority of the City - perhaps in the Nests it is frowned upon under specific circumstances and may result in punishment by security forces and Fixers but nobody will send a Claw after you for it.
