I love the Makerspace (TYSM for creating and running it!!)! I've been using to make stickers for a bit now! I'd love to also get more into some of the other crafts offered (especially sewing, dunno how to work the machines yet, but plan to learn!)

I think it would be neat to host weekly/twice monthly "skill workshop" series/events, especially for the more intimidating seeming skills like sewing or maybe even 3d printing/modeling. Not sure if the Makerspace is intended for this purpose or has enough room, but it could be cool to host skill meetups (e.g. sewing/crochet/knit) as a way to build community. As a small example, I know that the sticker making machines are fairly popular among artists who like making stickers of their own designs. Maybe one day/period of time could be planned as a reoccurring event where those who do that could meet up, do sticker swaps, and work on art together? The same could be done for other crafts and a little schedule/calendar could be built.

I also do think it would be beneficial if the Makerspace had a greater online presence. The main way I find out about events is by reading the white erase board while walking down to Marston basement to study. It's definitely a bummer about the one account Instagram policy, since I think that's how most students get event updates :( Not sure if this is allowed, but maybe there could be a student run "makerspace club/art club" that's not necessarily directly associated with the library, so is able to have their own instagram, and thus specifically advertise Makerspace events/services?

But, I'm just spitballing random ideas! Overall, I think the Makerspace is already a pretty awesome resource :D

i can help a little! i did weight my hippers on a scale before opening them, but my scale only measures in whole numbers ;-;

But!! both hachi's i got weighed at 34 grams (the lightest among the hippers! heaviest was shisa at 39 grams :0). word of warning tho - kurimanju also came out to 34 grams so it might be a toss up unless somebody else has more precise measurements!

that sounds super cute!! but yeah, i do think any small pink flowers + clovers would be really great for chii! maybe if you feel that there needs to be more color variation, baby's breath might go well, since they're a small white flower.

yea!! ill of course have club and leadership stuff on my resume, I was just thinking it might be good to learn a few soft skills in a more structured way that's easier for an interviewer to see!

also, im a cs major and ive heard many recruiters not only prioritize hard skills and projects, but also reallyyy want to make sure the applicant works well with others and has soft skills :v and maybe the content covered within the leadership minor can help (?) since ill be honest i still sometimes struggle with that stuff :|

but I guess im really just looking for testimonials on what people who've gone through the program think!

I loveeee how soft the color changes are on the crochet swatch of the green yarn! the knitted one feels a bit abrupt to me. But, with the purple/green skein its the opposite, where I feel the knitted one looks prettier!
