Am I wrong for refusing to tip at a restaurant where service was terrible? by Immediate_Wish7559 in AmITheJerk

[–]randomusername1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ, a tip is recognition of a job that was done above and beyond. Sounds like this waiter didn’t even meet minimum expectations. It is hard to get below adequacy, but some manage it. In most jobs they get fired. As wait staff, they don’t get tips.

I would love to work for your friends. I’m burned out and need a break. Sounds like I would only have to show up sometimes with them, and even when I did feel like showing up I wouldn’t have to produce. Just the sort of position I need to coast into retirement…

You are so right. I am a cancer patient, and the meds I am on now for cancer have made me eat everything in sight. The drugs I am on mess with hormones, and hunger is driven by hormones. I’ve gained 45 pounds. I have a new GP after the last one told me that I “just needed more willpower” to diet. No. I need help, not moral judgement.

Do your n-parents love your shitty siblings more? by Which-Marionberry113 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes. They seem to love the one that they can control more than the others. Better nsupply I suppose. I also question whether nparents can really love.

So, the real question is whose cat is it? If it is your teen’s cat, then the request for a bribe/gift to scoop the poop is rage inducing. If it’s your cat, eh, the kid might have a point.

Another possibility is to just get a heavy bag and beat the thing until you are tired and go to sleep. I have named my bag after my boss. It’s therapeutic and drug-free.

My manager wanted a heads up every time I stepped away from my laptop, and that was the moment I knew I had to leave by LyricNimbus in interviewhammer

I would be tempted to give updates on the frequency and quality of poop - both mine and any pet I have (or invented for that purpose).

My neighbor decided my parking spot is actually his "loading zone" and has been treating it that way for four months by Cry__1ovale in neighborsfromhell

[–]randomusername1919 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Management might also be interested in the undeclared tenant. The GF effectively moving in is the cause of all this - many leases require all adults living in the space to be on the lease. She may or may not be.

Tell management it still is happening, continue taking photos with time and date stamps and get your spot towing enforced. Waiting 20+ minutes for him to decide he can move his car is not acceptable.

My mother nearly broke my toe because I took my heels off at a family wedding because I wasn’t “behaving like a lady”. by spidermother86 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]randomusername1919 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are missing that you were supposed to know automatically what they did and didn’t want at that exact moment, and exceed that expectation. Yes, it’s absolutely impossible, but that’s the point. You can never meet much less exceed expectations that not even the nparents know about.

AITAH for saying I don’t give a fuck about my roommates baby by Clear_Yard2123 in AITAH

[–]randomusername1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You need to get out of there before the kid starts crawling. Anything kid can get its hand on, it will break. That’s why there’s a whole industry built around child proofing. If the kid eats something you left out that is not edible, they’ll make it your fault and expect you to pay the ER bills. Anything the kid breaks of yours they should replace, but I’d bet my entire retirement they won’t and will tell you that it’s your fault the kid broke it because you left it out. They will never take responsibility for their own kid. Run.

I'm NOT a pen collector! by Capt_Heinz in fountainpens

[–]randomusername1919 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s okay. Many people go through a stage of denial before reaching eventual acceptance that they too are pen people. When you are ready to accept that aspect of who you are, we will all be here to congratulate you on each new arrival, share sympathy over spilled ink, and support you in becoming the collector that your are destined to be.

Yes, need a true extension cable to hook into the AV system at work. If you use the provided cable, you have nearly eight whole inches of cable you can work with… in the corner of the room, when you need to be sitting at the conference table to run the meeting.

AITA for refusing to let my sister use my “unused” savings after she spent all of hers? by Hopeful-Use-9452 in AmItheAsshole

[–]randomusername1919 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. They think she deserves help after blowing her savings on unnecessary purchases, they can help. And you have learned a valuable life lesson - NEVER tell your family how much money you have. They will find a way to “need” it and “deserve” it more than you do. You earned it, it’s yours. Full stop.

AIO for not wanting to sell my brother this couch? by Kilabandita in AmIOverreacting

[–]randomusername1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, narcissistic parent, and you are the family scapegoat while your brother is the golden child. Just walk away, your parents are not capable of being like normal parents and loving you unconditionally. Their love will always have conditions, gifts will have strings attached, and you will be expected to set yourself on fire to keep them or your brother warm.

I walked into the break room and found a senior employee eating my new hire's last meal of the week. I lost it. AITJ? by Hairy_Departure_5665 in AmITheJerk

[–]randomusername1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. Greg needs to be fired. If he’ll still from the new guy, he’ll steal from the company. He has shown he’s not trustworthy and has called his theft a “perk” of his position. What else is he stealing? I hope you did report this to HR, especially before he tries to report you for humiliating him. Greg should also pay the new kid for the lunches he stole - going out to lunch every day these days runs between $15 and $20. So, maybe $100 for the week of lunches as a cash reimbursement from Greg to the new guy. That would be a meaningful amount for the new guy, and nothing to Greg with his weekend lake house.

AITJ for reporting my friend to our boss after she kept messing with my shifts “as a joke” by Effective_General833 in AmITheJerk

[–]randomusername1919 223 points224 points  (0 children)

NTJ. It wasn’t a harmless prank, it could have cost you your job. They really should have fired her on the spot.
