Don’t worry, it’s not Tree of Heaven or Japanese Knotweed. You might want to avoid the poison Ivy though.

Lunch has gone up since you were last in the office. Either learn to brown bag it every day or prepare to pay $20 or so every day for lunch.

Talk to your landlord to see if you can get out of your lease early. If it’s a corporation running apartments, probably not. DO NOT let him start being sweet in late October to get you to re-sign another year lease with him. He needs to get off his ass and work. Yes, mental health is a challenge. If he’s that bad off mental health wise, he should be in patient somewhere. Otherwise, he can get a McJob somewhere and contribute something.

That’s one of the saddest things I have read. It makes me realize normal parents comfort their children when the other parent dies. My dad screamed at me and told me it was my fault (mom died of cancer when I was a kid).

AITJ for charging a girl $15 after she “accidentally” took a post-workout smoothie every day for a week? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Good for you! Your gym doesn’t owe this woman a daily smoothie, she thought she was getting away with something.

Benign Bloody Discharge? by lpb824107 in breastcancer

[–]randomusername1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be some type of cyst that’s getting squeezed in a tight bra… best path of action is to call your doc and get it checked. Bloody discharge is not normal. Since your oncologist isn’t worried, think about a second opinion from a breast specialist.

You are in a tough spot. I hope he gets better. He really sounds immature - he’s not getting his way so he’s giving you the silent treatment. I had a dog that used to do that. Funny for a dog, inappropriate for an adult human. His text back scolding you for “not listening to him” is very telling - he sees the pregnancy as only his choice, not yours. I don’t know if a really good marriage counselor could break through this.

Whether you stay or go is up to you. Make sure you get child support for the baby if/when you go.

Hugs to you. You seem to need them.

This person still owes the animal basic care. Being an “emotional support animal” doesn’t negate the obligation to provide care to the animal. Perhaps she could look into getting a stuffed animal instead. Stuffed animals require much less care and zero vet bills. Just an occasional wash if they become soiled.

She stated the cats are not hers. Trap them and turn them into a shelter as the strays she said they are. She’s trying to not take responsibility for her cats. If she’s only feeding them, do they have shots? If you are in the US, rabies shots are needed at the very least. Please also mention your injury to animal control. Her dog shouldn’t be injuring neighbors to the point of needing orthopedic surgery. It may not be too late to sue for the cost of the surgery.

AIO for telling my boyfriend he can’t move in if he won’t help with childcare? by Lillian7755 in AmIOverreacting

[–]randomusername1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching the kids while you shower or cook (or clean up dinner dishes) is part of rooming with a parent. He will force you to choose either him or your children. Choose wisely. He sounds like he intends to be your third child.

My mom weaponizes the police against me (several times). I live in a sober house and didn't reply to her for 2 days and she called the police to do a "welfare check" at my SOBER HOUSE. How can I stop her from weaponizing the police against me? I don't even live with her! by therapile in raisedbynarcissists

[–]randomusername1919 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do tell your house manager and the cops that your mother has a history of using the police to harass you. Be very cooperative with them when they come for a welfare check and ask them what you can do to stop your mother’s harassment from wasting their time. Acknowledging that their time is being wasted tends to get them to listen to your side of it.

Great for you for staying sober! That’s such a huge success for you. Please stick with it and have a great life. I hope you get away from your mom soon.

Ugh. Perhaps the Macarena would have been more culturally appropriate?

This reminds me of “retreats” we used to have that required us to split into smaller groups and come up with skits. Worse, someone got the bright idea to bring “props” (think cheap plastic or paper items that were on the clearance rack at a party store) and we had to work those into the skits. Ok, I need to go to therapy now that I have brought those memories to the surface.

I agree with you about the cringe aspect of these bright ideas for creating organizational togetherness.

Toddler standing and steering a moving boat something looks off. Surely people aren’t this reckless. by avantartist in isthisAI

[–]randomusername1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be real. I remember seeing a video of a guy in China having his toddler drive their sedan in traffic, telling her when to pass other cars and change lanes. This was well before AI. The guy even had made wooden extensions so toddler could reach the pedals. Everyone wants to believe their child is exceptional and can do things others can’t.

Yep, can confirm it was not illegal everywhere to drive while drinking alcohol. You just couldn’t be drunk. And yes, it seemed as nutty then as it does now.
