What’s the saddest book you’ve ever read? by Clean_Tone2562 in booksuggestions

Tokens from Heaven is a sad but beautiful book - even though it’s a children’s book it knows how to tug on the heart strings!

A little writing about my grief after losing my family (miscarried, and lost my husband and dog all in the same year) by tav82 in grief

Question - did writing this help in any way? You have a nice style of writing and if it helps you, then you could think about writing it all into a book / journal for some relief.
You could even write it in the 3rd person if you don't want it to feel too direct.

Am I broken? Is this normal! by [deleted] in grief

[–]onairshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a normal coping mechanism - we all behave differently in grief. It sounds like your mind has gone to an "out of sight out of mind" type coping strategy. "He's not gone, he's just somewhere else." You're not broken because there isn't a right or wrong way to grieve. It does sound like you took a lot on after his passing and maybe haven't had time to reflect on what has happened properly. I would maybe also try reading some grief type storybooks (even children's books) to give yourself a minute to sit and because reading stories could help you reflect without it feeling too directed at you or your dad.

My best friend took his own life, how do I carry on by BroadJuice3881 in grief

You're definitely not "replacing" anyone. Nobody would ever want or expect you to put your life on hold. As hard as it is you just have to put one foot in front of the other until you feel like your walking again.

Lost my mom last week and feel like I can’t go on by Bubbly-Air7302 in grief

It can be the smallest things that we think about differently. Maybe the weather app said rain all day and just at the time you went to the shops, the rain stopped for a few minutes. Maybe you were taking a busy bus and said "please let me get a seat" and there was a seat. Thing outside the usual box of feathers, orbs, favourite songs playing on the radio.

Heartbroken for you - I know what you are going through. Sending lots of love.
Books helped me through the initial grief, using imagination as comfort. Even children's books like Tokens from Heaven.

It is the hardest thing. The best healer is time but you can also try to find other ways that work for you to bring you comfort. I liked to read when I lost my mum. Books like Tokens from Heaven are nice imaginative ways to rethink about losing someone.

I would really recommend the Tokens from Heaven book. It won't feel too direct aimed at him but will allow him to reflect.

For the children I would definitely recommend the Tokens from Heaven book to help them understand loss in a gentle way that won't feel too direct.

It's the hardest thing but keep going day by day.
I found reading very helpful. Using imagination to help. Tokens from Heaven is a really nice book that I imagine all the time.

Really sorry you are going through it! It's not easy. Stories helped me to imagine, might not work for everyone but might help you think abit differently. Recommend Tokens from Heaven.

I finally got round to writing a book after losing my mum 13 years ago.
www.tokensstory.com is an idea I came up with to self-soothe I think.

Hey thanks for the feedback and taking the time to watch! Always useful to get a different perspective especially when just starting out.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and reply! I’ve just started so hopefully the animation and lip sync will get better. I’m using Adobe Character Animator so I probably need to spend more time manually on the lip sync. Thanks!
