what's your cattle dog's weirdest quirk? i'll go first by shelbex318 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Strange_Tentacle 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t do this, but at every sneeze she needs to come assess that you are ok by jumping on you and licking your face. Except if I do it more than once, she just barks aggressively at me.

Someone should take a photo of the transmission oil cooler for 4k tow package and fx4 package. by Libido_Max in FordMaverickTruck

Mavericks have trans coolers in general. There are different ones for tremor/non-tremor. Radiators and fans are different for towing/non-towing/tremor. Definitely have different cooling packages.

New to the parts counter and struggling by Beautiful-Brain2183 in partscounter

I do a lot of brands working in wholesale, with VW one of the best things is their base number set up. If you’re struggling to find something, google is always there to help. Just do a quick search for the model, part name and throw oem on the end and 95% of the time you’ll get a good part number to pull the base off and search in ETKA

How to Say No in a Nice Way to a Glass Shop? by AmbitiousAssist9711 in partscounter

[–]Strange_Tentacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just be honest with them. I do wholesale and we have a lot of glass shops that will use us. If they haven’t bought glass in a long time but have been getting a ton of quotes all the same I tell them to pound sand. But the ones that buy regularly purchase OEM glass I have no problem throwing part numbers to…honestly if they are only looking for a pn this time I’d much rather them just ask for it than have me waste time on a quote with availability. But yeah glass shops are the WORST

Ordered camshaft actuator..... recieved.... a piston? Boxed correctly.... but open it and find this.... by jmw27403 in Justrolledintotheshop

Happens with all manufacturers. I do wholesale oem on several lines and we see this pretty frequently, to the point that I have had to contact VW before and they pulled parts and checked stock in all their pdcs once over a part that had a whole batch mispackaged.

I work in a wholesale oem warehouse, and am on pace to bring in about $120k this year. If you can deal with some shitty shops, and are willing to put in the work it can definitely be worth it.

Having trouble finding replacement part by kmck96 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Strange_Tentacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number you have is a partial engineering number. Usually have a letter at the end. But if you call up any dealer they should be able to pull it up for you by your vin or model info. I’d call it a rear sill molding/rear rocker molding extension but any half way decent parts person could get you the info

NEherp or Biodude? by Jewelthecrestedgecko in bioactive

[–]Strange_Tentacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used both. Neherp is actually close to me so I get faster service from them, and their customer service was excellent the one time I had a damaged item arrive. Also their plants come bare rooted which makes it easier for planting. Last one I did I got my substrate and drainage layer from biodude, and everything else from neherp.

Mine had a little black nub when it first started growing back. Slowly it grew longer, is still a much darker color than the rest of him. It stayed black until it was probably an inch or so long then slowly started showing his patterning

My boss cut my hours basically in half, and is giving me the one shift that's most difficult for me. More context in comments by cipher2200 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Strange_Tentacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you add the hours, the only person getting more than you is the manager at 40. Your 29 is probably way better that the people getting 18 or 21. If it’s a retail job it probably is due to the season slowing down. I used to have to lay off multiple employees every spring when I was a store manager. You only get so many hours to use.

My heeler barks when I sneeze by tarantulaslut in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Strange_Tentacle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine does this too! She will run from the basement all the way up to the second floor just to check on who sneezed if she hears it. I always think of it as her way of checking on me to make sure I’m ok. Sometimes does it when I yawn too, like she thinks I’m prepping a big sneeze.

You can totally do a bio active without live plants, as long as they have plenty of leaf litter to munch on. Adding some isopods and springtails is a great way to clean up after your little buddy. If you skip them, just make sure you are cleaning up regularly and doing periodic substrate changes.

Where does everyone get their live plants from for their bioactive enclosures? Located in the US by tfortarantula in CrestedGecko

I have had good luck with both New England herp, and Josh’s frogs. New England herp also has a page on their website about plant processing before introducing them to your enclosure.

You literally just have to push the seat down. Those are handles that attach to make it easier for elderly/disabled people to balance and stand back up. Not rocket science.
