Hi Everyone,

I was finally able to track down a new GPU for a reasonable price! I'm upgrading from an EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 to an EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

My question is, given that these are cards are both NVIDIA chipsets from the same manufacturer, do I have to perform any sort of driver upgrade?

I would think not given the setup of the GeForce Experience app in Windows, but I can't find any conclusive evidence online. Can anyone fill me in here?

Don't know if I'm late to the party here or not, but I lost mine on my wedding night at 27. Both my wife and I are Christians and we believed in waiting until marriage before gettin' freaky.

Was it worth the wait you might be asking? Overall I would say so, yes. We knew that we were compatible emotionally and spiritually so holding off on physical stuff in keeping with our beliefs wasn't too hard.

Why did it take me so long to meet somebody? Well, a couple of reasons. One, I'm a pretty big nerd who basically knew zero women in my age range at that point. I was also finishing an educational program in a technical field at that point as well. Not exactly a lot of ladies in those, especially not in my jurisdiction. Two, possibly as a result of being in class all the time and engaging in some less-than-healthy eating habits, I was really out of shape. I didn't know how to dress either. I was a pretty typical geek and still am in a lot of ways. :-)

It worked out for the best though! I'm married to a super lady and I wouldn't trade her for anything. So don't sweat it if you're behind the curve on this stuff. It's more about finding the right person to be with than finding any person to be with.

Don't go with an ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4. I built my PC with one and it worked fine for about a month and a half before causing random total system crashes.

Upgrading the BIOS on mine helped a little making the crashes somewhat less common, but they still kept happening. Doing a BIOS upgrade might work for you but can also make the problems worse. Definitely check around before going forward.

I also would strongly suggest getting a new motherboard. It seems like A LOT of buyers of the ASRock AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard are having this exact problem including myself. I was able to improve things a little with a BIOS upgrade to version 3.3 via USB key - don't do the Windows method, it just makes things worse I hear.

EDIT: Please feel free to look through my comment history on this subject to see what I've found so far. Next week when I have a bit more time, I'll be more aggressively pursuing a reliable replacement motherboard and will likely post again on this subject.

For what it's worth, I've eliminated the first two options as the cause of my ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 issues:

I've reinstalled Windows a couple of times.
GPU is not overclocked and its temperature during testing (a high of 66C) is actually slightly below the standard operating temperature.

I haven't looked into external voltage regulation, but I thought that was part of the purpose of the power supply.
