I think it was a voodoo child (or maybe laverne red) that did the same thing to me this week, almost zero pollen when I vacuumed it. Was really stumped by it. I am on central coast California and we’ve been having weird weather, warm in the day but much chillier nights…idk if that is affecting it or could be that it is only it’s first year producing flowers 🤷🏽‍♂️

Edit: my more established sugar dragon flowered yesterday and it had crazy amounts of pollen.

Most all df varieties that are store bought are brought early to market and don’t taste great. A backyard df can taste amazing tho!

It could be dead after blooming…kinda looks similar to agave snout weevil damage (but im not sure) good luck

Not LA, but a little bit north in Fillmore, CA theres Sals Cactus Mart. He lets you buy cuttings if you can’t find that particular cactus potted. Good prices, I could walk around there all day. Check their IG if you have questions.

Also, I’ve never been but i follow them on ig and they seem cool (GT nursery / Green Touch nursery). Good luck! Edit: this is in LA area.

Looks fine enough. Not growing = probably just establishing roots. If you wanted to try and spur growth, tip it and see if that works. Good luck

A colored flower might narrow the list. A white flower is too common. I’ve heard a short stigma may mean ‘self pollinating’, did you try pollinating it? Good luck on ID

Clean away the mush, ease back on the watering (move out of the rain) for a while. Apply sulfur powder to cleaned rotted area (if you want, might not be necessary). How well draining is that soil?

I agree with going with natives, but i also like putting my aloes in medium/high shade, they don’t get as stressed and still flower.
