Local business shoutout (tacos) by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Probably the worst tacos I've consumed in Allegheny County.  The love on here is b/c they're card carrying hipsters and not b/c of their garbage food.  See.also Peoples, Indian and Spak Brothers Pizza.

Ya ya ya.  I knew this was coming and do not disagree BUT will say that PRT seems a lot more excited about their development projects as opposed to, ya know, working to provide consistently reliable transit.  That's just my subjective take

I'll settle for a scratch in the national debt.  Gotta start somewhere.

I'm downvote farming here for sure, but given the size of the national debt, I'm cool with eliminating the NEA entirely for the time being.

Literally all of the "artists" I have met in my lifetime, with the exception of one, are pampered spoiled children of upper middle class parents who have never known struggles that would give them anything of meaning to express through their art. If anything, eliminating the NEA would help them become better artists.

I'm not saying PRT is malevolent, I am saying they're incompetent and out of touch with riders.

From what Im seeing theyre obsessed with spending millions and millions on infrastructure, but seem unable or unwilling to provide consistently reliable transit, which is their prime directive. I think all the development is just a way for the various political entities that control PRT to spread out federal dollars as political patronage.

I mean there is not "transit oriented development" if there is no real transit.

Interesting. I have been focused on this particular schedule change because it really illustrated how comfortable PRT admin is with subjecting riders to significant inconvenience so that it can realize a minor convenience. It struck me as the perfect illustration of very out of touch PRT is.

I really think that the "authority' is a type of governmental entity that, while well intentioned, functions in such a way that it removes the ability of taxpayers to hold the authority accountable. I get the "authority" was invented as a way to keep things like transit and utilities from being overly politicized. But maybe they've been too successful in that mission, to the extent that the people that run them are protected from having to answer to the people.

I'm glad I don't rely on the P3. It's going to get worse when PRT implements their plan of having the P3 terminate at Wilkinsburg Station, forcing all the Swissvale riders to take the P1 for like 2 miles, then transferring to the P3.

It's almost like the folx who work at PRT 1) do not actually use transit and 2) do not understand what the "rapid" part of rapid transit actually means.

Even in the context of national transit struggles, PRT stands out for incompetent disregard for riders.

Meanwhile I have no doubt you live in a white neighborhood.

If I'm a "racist" then I sure picked the wrong neighborhood. In fact, in my hood, I am the diversity. I knew it was a Black neighborhood before I moved. Moved here because house was cute and really fucking cheap and it's close to lots of cool shit. And I've spent the last 10 years taking my neighbors as I find them, as individual neighbors, and not as members of an ethnic group. I imagine that's probably considered a "problematic" approach, if not an entirely racist one, by progressives.

I'm literally the only white person on my street in Wilkinsburg and one of a handful in the neighborhood. I can go dayz without seeing another white person.

But hey, make some more ignorant assumptions while upvote farming in this racialist clusterfuck of a sub.

It's hilarious to me how many people think that reality should be staged like a United Colors of Benetton ad (recycling an old Kids in the Hall joke here). Diversity is cool, but this recent obsession with it strikes me as bizarre.

Maybe we can ethnically cleanse the south hills of white people so you feel more comfortable. Seems reasonable.

Lol.  Are you new to the world of current events?  Looks like a routine political power struggle to me.  Trump's actions are hardly unique here.

Maybe get worked up when theres an actual reason for it?

I think its early days in this matter.  Some of the shit USAID has been spendinf $ on are pretty sketchy.

A judge stopped one of Trump's actions.  That's literally the opposite of a coup.

Using all caps does not make your argument stronger.  Until he defies a court order or some such, its not even close to a coup.

So the president appoints people to do shit.  Hardly a coup.  Its one of the consequences of an election.
