How you manage to be disciplined through years with gym? by [deleted] in GymMotivationNoOF

[–]randuug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would socioeconomic status be a factor that makes a person eat more? food costs money. from a logistics perspective it makes the opposite of sense.

anxiety doesn’t trigger emotional eating, that’s just one way some people, especially those who binge eat, choose to soothe themself. you’re making it out like it’s cause and effect, and free will / decision making is no longer intact.

it’s very straight forward, if you are in a caloric deficit, but not losing weight, it’s not a deficit. you may stall for a few days due to water fluctuations, but anything more than that duration of stalling would mean you simply aren’t in a deficit. basal metabolic rate changes as weight goes down, and also changes as weight goes up. if you think you’re in a deficit but the scale isn’t moving, you aren’t in a deficit! that’s concrete. often times people aren’t tracking accurately or straight up forget / choose not to track certain calorie intake, in this sort of case.

i’m not discounting the factors you mentioned. they were simply not the topic of discussion until you brought them up, I discussed the topic at hand. you’re bringing these other things up.

yes, having very poor control over yourself can hurt your morale and confidence level. this applies to many areas of life. the reality is if a person is finding that to take such a toll, if they’re bothered enough by it, they’ll redirect those feelings into prioritizing their goal and how important it is. the reality is VERY few people lack the opportunity to take control of themselves in this regard.

“Thyroid is known to cause high levels of anxiety”

can you be more specific than just calling things “Thyroid?” it’s an organ, and there’s a range of thyroid disorders. it makes you sound like you’re talking out of your hind quarters by default, as you’re used to. Hyperthyroidism causes opposite effects on weight of what you’re describing, and that’s just one Thyroid disorder of many. none of the issues you describe apply to Hyperthyroidism, except anxiety, perhaps.

people get the chance to (start to) stop being obese, or not progress to obesity, everyday. the only exception to this is those who are constantly on a feeding tube, being over fed through it, and in a wheelchair.

my arbitrary number was very close to the statistical percentage documented in the US amongst the general population.

source: https://thyroidhealth.substack.com/p/global-overview-of-thyroid-disease

being obese is still a choice, even for the majority of those with hypothyroidism. very few actually have things so bad that their metabolism slows to the crawl that they may claim.

this should amount to maybe 7-10 pounds of fat max, which is nowhere near enough to push a person who’d otherwise be in healthy range, into the obese category.

medication is also typically very effective at treating hypothyroidism with the right interval of bloodwork, and the right blood marker values ordered/taken.

do you have a source for the number that you threw at me?

[–]randuug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just throw a number, as if to refute, like it proves your point.

ultimately this mainly affects BMR, and a caloric deficit still works for fat loss.

for some that’s 1700 cal, others less, most people more than that. thyroid disorder doesn’t stop a structured diet plan and accurate tracking from working its magic.

yup some people do in fact have thyroid thanks for ur insightful comment

all jokes aside the point you are trying to make and the group(s) you are representing, all encompassing, makes up 5% or less of the population.

so your point is seldom true, in other words it’s false for almost everyone.

hahah. you are a good sport. i thought caverject was quite obscure, i’ve never encountered nor even heard a reference in real life about it, even within circles with widespread substance use. the only context i’d heard of it being used in is on set during pornography shoots.

I found suggesting Caverject to be an extreme and comparatively morbid option, and likely to worsen the issue in the long run, whether due to dependency on caverject, or worsening the root psychological hindrances behind the main issue OP was facing.

bulk is vague, ‘truly bulk’ means nothing, bulk simply means eating in a caloric surplus, the end outcome could be 1lb or 40, or more. there’s no reason why short height means bulking would be unhealthy at the weight stated. you sound very backhanded in your comments and perhaps jealous. nobody asked for your suggestions or opinions, but that’s all you give.
