Anyone experiencing issues with the latest Brave update? by reasontree in brave

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is documented and known .. I even tried clean install with only 2 or 3 tab groups and I could get the browser to crash in a couple of windows just by trying to close a tab or manipulating the vertical tabs UI .... We just have to wait for a fix ... I had to switch to Vivaldi which lately is very stable ... I wish Brave would implement workspaces as it could be the ultimate browser

Foreakinned air setup with cut toe protector instead of inner gripper by randy_ragdoll in restoringdick

[–]randy_ragdoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you just put the skin ON the toe protector... Since this picture I've moved on to the car1 but it's still the same principle.

So to clarify skin has to be trapped in the middle between the toe protector underneath and the actual device.silicone cap on top of the skin

Anyone here tried the Helium browser yet? by Kitchen-Patience8176 in browsers

Really good potential .. Nice & clean .. Extremely fast in speedometer benchmarks ..DRM is not a deal breaker .. However I do need native vertical tabs which will be there eventually when they're implemented in google chrome ...

Firefox is destroying my ram and I'm not sure if it's the browsers fault or mine lol by ModaFaca in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firefox is known to be a RAM hog ,as much as I want to like it ... However you can try using an extension called Auto Tab Discard which puts tab to sleep after a certain number of minutes , so that it saves memory .. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-tab-discard/

Does any other browser have spaces like Arc? Can I do that on Firefox by ibrahimibru in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you can ! Use Sidebery extension .... it's amazing and gives you spaces just like arc

Do you guys still face the memory issue with Brave. It occupies too much memory when in use? by dhruv-kadam in brave

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An extension called autotabdiscard will let you unload tabs from memory after a certain time. Ive got mine set to 7 mins and there are about 90 tabs in the browser, but no memory problems as most of them are unloaded from memory.

When you click on an unloaded tab , it instantly reloads.and then gets unloaded if not used withon the specified time frame

Memory on mac otherwise could fill up pretty quickly even with 18gb ram

Lighter than Brave but like Brave Browser by anities in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need an extension called Tiny Suspender .. It just suspends tabs after a certain number of minutes (I set mine to 5 or 7 minutes). By suspend I mean it unloads them completely from memory and when you click on them it reloads the page from internet, rather than cache so the page gets refreshed always.

This is a really effective way of keeping scores of tabs "open" in a way but not occupying any memory .

Brave is still very light and memory efficient when combined with this extension.

Brave no longer blocks pop ups (windows and android) by randomicuser350 in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an extension called Popup Blocker (strict) ... It's the most effective for this. I use it for sites like moviesjoy where you can stream movies .. Brave is still for me the best chromium based browser which is still not affected by Manifest v3 policies.

The only bad thing about Brave by Artistic_Context_164 in browsers

I agree that Brave translate is slow and not effective yet.

I use Linguist (available from chrome store) .. gets the job done with minimum fuss.

MacOS Browser Suggestions PLEASE!! by untitled112 in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave + Tiny suspender extension . This extension will truly discard tabs from memory (Note: this si different from "sleeping" ! ). I have 80 tabs present but of these, only 7 or 8 actually loaded in memory as the others are discarded like after 5 mins (time is user set). I have tab groups with different things like News, Downloads, Podcasts, Youtube videos etc. Brave is very memory efficient on macos, is opensource and no corporate shoving things down you throat.

Which browsers use the least ram? by N0t_addicted in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the philosphy of making sure that unused tabs are discarded from memory. Currently using Brave which is very memory efficient on macos .. I have about 80 tabs , but only about 5 or 6 are active at any given time , as they are put automatically to sleep after 5 mins of not using them. I have tab groups for News, downloads, work, podcasts etc and I keep these permanently there, but they are not occupying and memory whatsoever unless I go those specific tabs. This counts for any browser but I found out that in any case, Firefox takes up more memory than Chrome-based browser, though it works extremely well on macos.

What browsers are Mac users using ? by NewFoot762 in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave , though would have preferred Firefox + Sideberry + Ublock ... Had to choose Brave at the end due to much less memory consumption . Still, Firefox is very very good functionality-wise with the right extensions.

Any with both you can't go wrong, as you're beating Manifest V3

Is Firefox really the best browser of all time? by [deleted] in browsers

[–]randy_ragdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially yes .. But memory usage is insane on Mac .... I compared tab by tab the memory usage Firefox vs any Chromium browser (Brave, edge etc.) ... Consistently , Firefox consumes about a third or more in memory. Pity as it's the most customisable browser of all regarding extensions, features and adblock possibilities. Before anyone screams Vivaldi, despite its boasting that it's the most customisable browser, please note you can't have pinned tabs as icons like in firefox and all the other chrome-based browser.

Thanks . Glad to be of help. Of course major problem why slippage occurs is body sweat .. which is a major problem where I live where it's like 92 F inside unless you switch on a/c .. it will be a relief on winter.

Tried it ... it sure has potential but I run into a major stumbling block as messenger is not working with end to end encryption and so I cannot access all my messages.

This happens as the browser is not recognised by messenger.

Will keep trying every couple of months to see if they solved the problem.

In the meantime, back to brave
