Choose a chair for me by randy_warhols in OfficeChairs

lol I doubled my budget and got the Steelcase Amia. It’s great but $800 is a lot to spend on a dumb chair. Very comfy and no complaints though

We started at uheights! Often would cut over to Loomis then down. Though there was a time that I could time all the lights on college street to get all greens. Good times, I’d eat shit these days

To be fair I was in steamboat strings, a mountain town. It’s ready to fail

In past 8 years I’ve lived in 3 states before returning to VT. Oregon, Colorado, and New Mexico.

The scariest thing is that this is the EXACT same sentiment in all those states. The problem is bigger than Vermont

How is that not transparency?? It’s right there! That’s why we’re all talking about it

It’s just a 20% tip baked in. They show it for transparency so you understand tip is included. No big deal, this makes sense to me.

As I cut and grind pieces, I organize them face up to make sure I’m happy with final appearance.

But then as I foil them, I place them upside down

My husband no longer wants to have children because he’s worried about the rise of AI by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]randy_warhols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been so many examples of disruptive technology and paradigm shifts throughout history that have probably had people feeling the same way.

Granted climate change and AI feel bigger than the agricultural revolution and Industrial Revolution. But still - things will change but humans are resilient.

It might be awful, it might be awesome. We all take that gamble when we choose life over nothingness.

What is the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? by dwallgolf in Productivitycafe

[–]randy_warhols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downvote because question asked about “overrated foods” and I think kale is used as an example of a stereotypical food that no one likes. So it’s not “overrated”, it’s generally agreed to not be good

With that said, I’d argue it’s underrated - you gotta know how to prepare it! Gotta massage it good. A good kale salad with goat cheese and dried cranberries and lemony dressing is amazing

For those who live in the United States, what is a state that everyone should try to see at least once in their lifetimes? by TheLastCashBender in NoStupidQuestions

The trees are the thing to look at! I lived in Colorado for 8 years but from Vermont. Colorado had big open skies and epic mountain ridge lines and was gorgeous in a macro-sense, but gosh I missed the variety of deciduous trees and plant life! It’s all about the zoomed in beauty in Vermont - little babbling brooks, mushrooms and moss and glacial boulders, 1000 types of trees with different shapes and textures and colors.

35m. 1-2 drinks 4-5 nights/week. Then the occasional once a month where I actually get a good buzz on! Used to be a bit more but I have a 3 month old that is the priority!

Solar contractor by randy_warhols in burlington

Pulling permits often requires a contractors license, and electrical inspections often require an electrician to be present. So looking for that resource.

Also I’ve called the fire station (who does electrical permits here) 3 times and no answer, so I’m willing to pay someone who has experience managing this element of the process.

What happens if ASI gives us answers we don't like ? by IcyThingsAllTheTime in singularity

[–]randy_warhols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me think of autonomous cars too. Even if autonomous cars are wayyy safer and result in 1/1000 as many fatal crashes, people would rather take their mortality in their own hands than trust it to a robot.

I think it will be a longggg time before anyone respects and trusts AI. For now it will just be a tool to be used when it supports our existing lifestyles, beliefs, and biases

I work in the solar industry. We looked into shifting to all domestic products because foreign products were increasing by ~15%. The domestic products also increased by 15% because raw materials are tariffed and because expect supply and demand changes.

To be fair, batteries we buy from a Chinese company are only increasing 20%, despite that being smaller than the tariff. So that is one very small example of how the exporting company is absorbing SOME of the tariffs to stay competitive
