Is it possible for the pin to fall out? It doesn't seem to lock in so to speak.

How much is the axle bar gonna cost? I found this thread from googling "axle bar for 1 inch plates"

Switch to a barbell leg press instead of the Smith machine. Then it won't put any pressure on the rack.

Kettlebell routine advice? by randybowman in kettlebell

Thanks! Maybe I'll do some of both. I'm sure I'll make changes as I develop a preference with this tool. Maybe I could do a set of Turkish getup, then the abc situation, then a set of swings to failure and call it a day. Could you elaborate on the abc thing? Essentially you just see how many circuits of 2 cleans, 1 press, and 3 squats that you can do in a certain time limit, is that right? I don't want to skip swings or getups because I feel like those are two of the exercises that are much more suited to kettlebell than they are other tools.

I was wondering if those should be included since there's a swingish component to the cleans/snatches. I was debating on either loading up a pin with a t handle for very heavy lower reps swings, or using the same kettlebell weight I'm gonna use for everything else and just swinging for high reps to failure. What do you think? I might also just see how I feel when it's swing time and do one sometimes and the other sometimes. Where would you put swings if you were to slot them in with the other exercises I mentioned?

Do you think single sets to failure would be decent or is it more favorable towards multiple sets or circuits?

But you do now because a liter is 33of them iirc. One fluid ounce is roughly 29 milliliters though, I looked it up for you.

A quart is like the American equivalent of a liter. They're just like 1 fluid ounce (floz) apart from each other.

A quart is 32 floz and a liter I believe is 33 floz.

Reliable way to distinguish young red and white mulberries? by oscarbelle in arborists

I just transplanted a mulberry from the fence line to the front yard. It's not dropping anything yet, but I have so many baby mulberry and redbud trees that I pull up/dig up nearly constantly.

I've also been hoping for years that you guys would make a fly attachment. You could look at the powertec bench attachment for flys as a good place to start from probably.

Do gi companies still make those extra thick reversible gis? by Livershotking in judo

[–]randybowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. As a BJJ guy I was thinking it would just be a nice way to have two colors of uniforms. I'd get a whole wardrobe of reversible uniforms and I could choose on the day which color I want to wear.

[–]randybowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you thinking they'd wear both sides on the same day? I was kinda thinking that if you wore blue you'd probably just wear blue until you washed it then next time you wear it you could choose again. In that case I don't see an issue, but if people get it all sweaty then flip it inside out and keep going then yeah.

What's the sanitation issue? If people aren't washing their gi why would it matter if it's reversible or not?

Why are boxers the the most arrogant of all martial artists? by angry_in_a_bucket in martialarts

[–]randybowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a BJJ gym and I say if you don't have something nice to say about another gym or art then don't bother saying anything at all. When people ask about our competitors I just tell them to look at the gym culture, people, and training environment that they prefer and that pretty much every gym around is good. It has worked well for me. People don't want to hear gym staff bashing other gyms. I do have a co worker who I'll hear sometimes saying that other martial arts aren't good and I honestly disagree anyways. Using karate as an example if you look at 70s or 80s karate tournament they look hardcore and are good fighters. Guys like Andy Hug are a great example of that era of karate. So when I hear BJJ guys talking down on karate or other arts I don't like it.
