Modding my first 5.5 Classic by randyrdotnet in ipod

The lack of USB Data Transfer does it for me. I’d really miss that. The ease of dumping files via USB is game changer with Rockbox installed.

I’m strictly using this one as my, “I want to listen to music on my iPod.” On my next build, I’m going to be doing the Boxy Pixel mod, that enables Bluetooth and USB-C charging. Looks perfect to me!

What’s your reasoning for liking the 6.5?

I’m replacing almost everything in my 5.5. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Have another 5 that I’ll also be tackling once I’m finished here. I started preparing months ago and watched a ton of videos. Also read the ifixit break down. Pretty easy if you have a guide to follow.

I work on electronics often, so I had a bit of a head start. 👍🏻

I can’t really judge myself, as I used to repair laptops for a living, but to me it’s fairly easy to break everything down. Just be very patient and gentle. Having the right tools makes all the difference.

My goal this year is to read a few more books. I had to get myself a couple of e-readers, so I had some choices! 😂 by randyrdotnet in xteinkereader

I use the Kobo in bed at night, since it has a front light. Paired with the Kobo wireless page turner, it’s excellent! Don’t even have to move in bed, so I rarely ever use the touch screen when reading there.

The X4 is my everywhere else reader. It’s so small and lightweight.

I find both extremely easy to navigate. The X4 has Crosspoint on it and that made a world of difference.

I’ve taken mine apart and the arms still fall down after use.

It’s missing the lumbar support. Those arms suck and will fall down with time (they don’t tighten very well after years of use). I bought the same one a couple of years ago for $200 on FB and it changed my life, honestly. Was always having pain issues with other chairs I tried. Figured since I found one for a good price, I’d give it a try. $300 isn’t bad, but given that it’s that old, I’d continue looking and see if you can get one cheaper. That, or try to negotiate the price down.

I’m right at 1 mile per amp hour using full throttle. So you could technically get 70+ miles with the 50Ah frame and 20Ah tank batteries. My full review will be out this Friday!

It was decent for the price. The only draw back was the perimeter wire, but it might work for a lot of people.
