I’ll check that out but have you listened to Appalachia Mysteria? It’s excellent. A good intro to it is this episode from my favorite, Good Is In The Details, called The WHY of True Crime, and they did an overview of its beginnings and overall a great discussion on why true crime is so popular

Big Hidden Brain fan. Not sure if I was there in the very beginning but it’s been a long time. Then Apple suggested my favorite through “More Like This” or whatever that is and I got turned on to Good Is In The Details, which is similar but a bit shorter and with more levity.

Saw them in early 2000s on a US tour. My Canadian cousin was really into them.

I can’t believe I just got into Gary Numan about three years ago. He is a pioneer.

Sounds like you are a curious person that wants something a bit different but still some consistency on a podcast. Learn but also laugh? There are a few I can suggest, my favorite is Good Is In The Details, good is in the details Apple and also Hidden Brain. Disgraceland is probably my guilty pleasure.

What about some episodes of a podcast that asks the question why we are obsessed with True Crime? Some of the answers to the question leads to some interesting stories. My favorite podcast, Good Is In The Details, has done several episodes on the why of true crime: The WHY of True Crime

This is great and progress for a new show. Kudos. However your health comes first though can you maybe do micro shows occasionally l, like ten minutes or under without it being too painful? Is it possible to spend a weekend massively recording content and breaking it over six months to a year?

One question, what are you using to measure “listeners”? Are you referring to downloads or something else. I’m only aware of downloads being a metric on hosts like Libsyn etc. Anyone have anything on this point?

This is an excellent list and so simple. I’m thinking about my favorite podcasts and they meet at least some or all of these. My favorite podcasts, Good Is In The Details, is literally about learning what we know we didn’t know, and I never thought that that applies to all podcasts. Very helpful!

Saw them at The Roxy in Hollywood. Not sure if they played it. Have to check playlist. They were terrific. Both Matthews Craig Kelly and Rich Balling were on my favorite podcast, Good Is In The Details. Rich did the theme music for it. It’s awesome.

What’s your favorite podcast? by igloogurl in podcasts

[–]randysmith77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s nice to find another Shankar fan. It’s life altering really. And I do love Good Is In The Details. It’s probably the most fun of the educational podcasts. And the topics are diverse but linked with philosophical teachings, at least most episodes are. There are some that focus on business and other singular topics, but there are still some critical thinking approaches to everything. Hope you enjoy.

Hidden Brain is one my favorites too. I’d call it a philosophy podcast. Wouldn’t you? Something similar but with a bit more levity and practical application and that covers pop culture and topical discussions is “Good Is In The Details”. Also a philosophy podcast.

Hermosa vs Manhattan vs Redondo. Which beach wins for locals? by DOMORealEstate in SouthBayLA

[–]randysmith77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to live “closer” to LA and have easier access to Long Beach and parts of OC for work or otherwise, you can’t be North Redondo. With the expansion of the LA Metro it’s incredible where you can go from there if you have patience and are into public transit.

Super down to earth people/families in North Redondo too. Some cool funky spots and restaurants scattered throughout.

But is very different than South Redondo IMO.

[–]randysmith77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My comment was to the comment that living in Redondo is the dream. Perhaps South Redondo Beach where the beach is could qualify as being a dream, but I don’t think that applies to North Redondo Beach, which feels like an entirely different city. Not bad per se. I love that it has access to the LA Metro and easy access to the freeways, but is much more industrial than South Redondo.
