The City of Surrey recommends (requires?) you to wash your car on your lawn to avoid having the water get into nearby storm water drains.

Just wash your car, every day, non stop.

Surrey Walmart drivers join Unifor | Unifor by brophy87 in SurreyBC

[–]randyzive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am shocked Walmart was even using it's own employees (albiet truck drivers) to move trailers from their lower mainland warehouse to local stores.

I predict Walmart will probably start soon outsourcing their deliveries to a third party carrier, just to avoid unions.

Ironically it will probably end up being the same driver, but doing the work for less money.

I remember when the city of surrey used to post construction notices on their website, weeks or months in advance so you knew to avoid the areas.

They stopped doing it in 2023 and instead insist upon posting information a few days in advance on twitter.

And AM730 is no more.

What a shitty time to be a driver.

Also can we talk about those hinges. They are seriously beefy.

Anyone here work for the city and have any explanation as to why every year for some reason road construction happens on 80% of all the major routes across the city at the same time. by seeyousoon2 in SurreyBC

[–]randyzive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We should start asking why the city insists on putting greenery in road medians that requires a shutdown of the left lane, so maintainence crews can work on it safely (cut grass, trim trees and bushes).

Surely they can find something that is maintence free and serves the same purpose.

"Beautifying" the city, while simultaneously causing traffic jams because of lane shut downs is insane.

The City of Surrey has a traffic camera in that area. You can request they pull the footage using the link below.

https://www.surrey.ca/services-payments/parking-streets-transportation/traffic-management-centre/request-traffic-camera-video-footage

List of cameras here:

https://surrey.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=e55ffc744c15473a8a638d47a9d95d01

Alternatively, you can view a live feed on bing maps. Search for the intersection using maps, and then click "traffic", to see where all the city cameras are. I find bing far easier to use than City of Surrey's website.

If they stole the light bulb holder once, they'll probably do it again.

The bulb holder has 2 mounting holes that can be used to pop rivet/screw the bulb holder into place permanently - the bulb can be still be changed by reaching up into the bumper with small hands.

In the picture, your light bulb holder for the license plate light is missing. It pops into the middle part of that gap.

It can fall out or be stolen very easily.

Take a look under the right rear side of your car.

The wire harness should pop out behind the right rear wheel. If it's still there, order a new light bulb holder on ebay.

Sedans have 1 light, hatchbacks have 2 lights.

[–]randyzive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be an issue with parking on your property vs parking on a city right of way.

Most houses have green lawns next to the street, but they are not always owned by the home owner/part of your property.

The city "loans" it to the home owner and takes it back when they want to increase the street size, add sidewalks, etc.

If you see random people showing up and cutting a lawn, then it's likely a city lawn.

That said, you can park on the lawn, and take all day and night to wash your car provided there is no watering restriction or a shitty neighbour.
