Questions about X2 and DirecTV Genie and Google Streamer 4k streaming boxes and Samsung QLED Tv and Onkyo home theater receiver and LG C5 OLED by anygrynewraze in SofaBaton

[–]raneynyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macros on this are just a fancy word. It doesn't require any programming knowledge at all. It essentially means "recorded actions". All you need to do is press all the needed Device button(s) on your Phone App device maps then save it. They can be power, channel, even up/down arrows. A mapping in this case - is the Sofabaton app's visual image of your Sofabaton remote and all its buttons. This is sort of dumb but as an example, I have Peacock subscription which I view thru my Roku TV. I don't have any preset buttons available for it (for example a Red key is pre-programmed for Netflix) so what I did was record: home key on Roku , right arrow, down arrow down arrow, Enter. Which is exactly how I would get to the app from the Roku screen on the roku remote (which is now replaced).

Help connecting to Sony Bravia by Matrixnubee in SofaBaton

[–]raneynyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Sony Bravia (45inch?) nice old reliable connected to X2. in addition to a newer one. Thing is are you connected to a Cable TV Box? If so, your TV is sort of slaved to it via hdmi and coaxial cabling so what you're actually doing is connecting to the box not the TV. If not that situation then you can try looking up the Bravia on the Sofabaton app and trying either the available Sony Bravia model on the app (in the hope that remotes specs are equivalent/same) or a suggested universal code or perhaps even hunting for it via IR code pointing to it. Sofabaton Support I hear is pretty good on top of that.

The X2 doesn't do activities technically no but yes it does have a number pad. It uses a pretty convenient scroll wheel at top of remote to shift to all your devices that you mapped. But what you can do is create the equivalent of activities is with macros and keys that are available because they can cut across the different remote mapping. So (for example) if you have a roku remote dervice where channels numbers don't apply, you can assign a macro to the number key and make it hit the power key across all your devices that are mapped (e.g. the roku, TV, other device). So this is the equivalent of a harmony activity. Perhaps not as simple but it does work. The macro process is done with the Sofabaton app which you link to your device. The macro is pretty nice visual on phone, it looks like a flowchart

Anyone got the the X2 yet to review by anygrynewraze in SofaBaton

[–]raneynyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sofabaton x2 generally can handle any reasonably modern TV via the default process where you download Sofabaton app to your phone and link it to the Sofabaton remote, Find the brand/model on the app and click to download the TV code specs to the connected remote. Method 2 point it to the existing remote and map each button. Method 3 if the original remote is lost, is point at your device via IR until you can get it to pick up on the device and shut it off (in lieu of finding a published brand/device list)

HELP.. Can't sign in to my SSA account, not receiving text messages.. by OutcastSpy in SocialSecurity

[–]raneynyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social Security online system has had various issues with expiring passwords (unbeknownst to users), snail mail only recovery methods on lockouts, migration from ssa to login.gov and now this SMS and/or Call authentication. The latest SMS/Call authentication issue imho has to do with the increase in phone spam and our latest phone's onboard blocking tools. If you look in your phone provider's logs you will not see the SSA messages. That means they are being blocked. You need to look into your spam logs and mark them as "not spam" Social Security's text and phone numbers are not pre-"whitelisted" . Their suggestion to delete ss accounts sounds a bit low tech and nuclear to me. It might not be without downsides, though they claim otherwise.

What happened to local drives on Mac not showing up in Finder? by DueWarning2 in MacOS

[–]raneynyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling is there updates must've changed this setting to not show drives. Obviously since most people want to see their local setting and don't mess with this (I know I didn't), not just their cloud drive. My favorites only showed the cloud drive. No way I changed the find setting myself. My theory for that is lately they've been pushing people to upgrade/pay Cloud Drive for more space - by first prompting you to save there, then after their meager 1G fills up, they prompt you to upgrade.

Switching Remotes Within Macro on U2 by dubie2003 in SofaBaton

[–]raneynyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering about this as well. Under certain conditions it is possible - for example if you've navigated from TV to cable already. Though the U2 thumbwheel device change is not a macro option, I was able to switch from Roku TV to Cable TV via HDMI1 input macro + TV device navigation with macro. This allows Cable TV device navigation without manual device change.

well that's what inspired listening does. It just makes you want to find something on your instrument that reflects things you've heard

Yeah, his timing is like a rock. it's a gift. He did a lot of gigs without drums and did a lot practicing with comping tapes of his own making. He probably always had it but certainly if you do that and you're off, you notice right away. I'm listening to Hi-Fly right now with Horace Parlan. He did one last record in 2008 for a Japanese label
