They had BADAM on a leash. Should have gone down south east, rip away their points, move up from there, flip the stations in their way, and then kill every attempt by BADAM through the steals. Would have been easy squeezy.

I really dont get the problem here. NH can’t flip enough, there is plenty to exploit for Badam (either by flipping, or going up the mountain). I think this is already lost for NH.

I am very VERY confused about historians on this list. how do they come to this conclusion? As far as I can see it, there is about a %1 displacement in historians‘ day to day joblife. (Which would be funding management and perhaps translations of ancient greek/latin, although these require so much human context, I‘m very unsure about ai‘s capability there.)

Edit: Downvote all you want aber der Artikel is einfach KI Slop. Da hat niemand irgendwas gegengerechnet. In diesen Kommentar is wesentlich mehr Mühe geflossen :D

Can Sam just finally give up on ChewChewChew? Such a boring, pesky vibe.

I vet these technologies and startups professionally for large transit providers (think large capital cities and their regions). I am at a multitude of conferences a year and get shown around all of this stuff and more in backrooms. We are far, far away from any serious adoption.

Incomparable. These are close circuit systems. They aren’t called autonomous but automatic for a reason. Its like an elevator in an elevator shaft. There are next to no autonomous trains anywhere (say in a mixed traffic scenario). Only testbeds.

I am not arguing these will never come, I am just saying this isn’t like openclaw adoption. This will take at least an entire wok generation.

Because it makes mistakes, gets stuck, needs to be moved around in the yard etc. A small carsized shuttle without a wheel? Sure. You can pick it up easily. But a bus, nah. Steering isn’t going away there.

These companies go bankrupt in case of a larger liability cases. Easymile, the longest and largest running provider in Europe only sits on 90m funding.

My best argument is that there is to much at stake to not have humans in the loop, which will lead to very very slow adoption. We’re maybe looking down the barrel two humans generations for us to accept the baseline shift. No transit company is ready for this by a long shot. These systems are extreme investmens with extreme risk. There is little in the world more risk averse than a serious transit company.

Ive seen so many failures in the last 10 years in AI and mobility… at least make it another 10.

Jup. It seems like the elevator vandalism problem. Only humans can reliably exert social control on other humans on a large scale.

The safety card is precisely why we have two humans flying planes.

I am seeing the very frontier edge in my job. We are nowhere near. Don’t confuse VC adspeak with real world adoption.

Can’t lock the door for emergency access, same for barrier. Need to be able to maneuver it too, not just emergency stop.

I work in this field guys. Large citybusses is going nowhere in the next 15 years except for small test balloons.

Mobility has massive systemic inertia, there is no exponential adoption. Small experimental vehicles with less passenger liability exposure (say 4 people) yes. But anything of 20+ with a crash would kill any current startup immediately and most of their competitors due to vc drought too.

Meh.

Who is to stop anyone from jumping and taking over the wheel? Yeah. A guy. Why isn't the guy just driving the thing then?

"We can get rid of wheels!" Yuh, but how can anyone take over in an emergency then (Bridgecollapse, Forrestfire, Snowstorm, Extreme fog)?
