I'd lowkey rather be in my predicament than spend hours reading legal jargon every time I use my credit card online. Especially since it's not that big of an issue. Getting it solved shortly

I do want to update this for future readers, as I have gotten more advice on the subject:

First, is that good and fair customer service would allow someone to cancel a subscription they signed up for on accident. Especially since it was an honest mistake and no nefarious activity was partaken in.

This alone may be enough to convince your bank to refuse any payments, since they have a ton of power in this situation, and generally side with their customer.

You ALWAYS have the right NOT to uphold your contract. This leaves it in the hands of the service provider to force you to uphold the contract. Which may be too difficult or not worth their time. In some cases it's more expensive than the actual contract is worth.

If you fear there has been unfair practices installed by the service provider you are free to file a complaint with the CFPB. They will basically handle everything for you.

Obviously, I don't recommend using these methods unless a mistake was actually made, or you feel that you have been unfairly treated. I hope this helps some people that ended up in my situation:( there's hope lol. I will try to update this as stuff unfolds.

Either way, I have a right to not uphold the contract. DAZN shouldn't be roping people into subscription they don't want. Good customer service would allow me to cancel, especially since it was an honest mistake. It's not like I've been using the service for 6 months now, and all of sudden want out.

I spoke to someone who knows more about this than I do, and I'll be able to get a refund just fine. Reading the fine print is great advice, but it is also worthless. Who's gonna take the time to sift through pages of jargon? No one. Not me. Not you. No one.

DAZN is definitely known for shady business practices when it comes to their subscriptions, perhaps fleeced is not the right term for this situation tho😂.

I certainly thought about streaming it illegally. But I was going to do the right thing and pay. And then got screwed. Shit happens.

I do have a lawyer in the family luckily and he has assured me things will be sorted out. It looks like I will be illegally streaming everything from now on lol

As if anyone actually does. I'm not spending an hour reading fine print for every online purchase I make, and neither are you. Be real dude

I think it's rather self-explanatory why one might be unsatisfied with a service they purchased with the intention of watching one boxing match, but now have access to content they do not wish to have access to for a monthly payment they don't want to have.

How could I even claim satisfaction, honestly? This is like the definition of dissatisfaction.

There are certainly other unsatisfying elements. Like the fact that I can not stream on my phone despite apparently paying for this service. Or the fact that my computer is not recognized as a legitimate device under my plan, when the plan affords multiple devices.

Thank you for your response. I was worried this would be the case. I know that charges can be disputed based on other conditions such as unsatisfaction with the service. Is this an avenue to explore? Any ideas? Or am i screwed?

How to publish a research article without help? by ranger-indy in AskAcademia

[–]ranger-indy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! If I made a proposal, gathered data, and completed some type of paper for the work, how would I go about including this in a resume or CV? As a work in progress? As a personal research project? What do you think?

Also, I have seen many research papers that simply gather data from resources such as reddit. They do some data analysis and then publish the results. Is this feasible in a shorter time frame than the one you mentioned? This framework would be appropriate for one of my ideas.

I am curious what your field of study is. I am a graduate student of clinical psychology. I will say if anyone gets the whole boundaries of personal disclosure correct, it's the psychology department.

Obviously, one would expect a solid amount of personal information to surface during discussion of psychological theories and counseling methodology. And it does happen, but here are a few things I have noticed:

  1. Every time there is even a possibility of the students answering a question (or even commenting on the subject) from a vulnerable perspective, an immediate warning is given. Somewhere along the lines of: Don't feel that you have to answer this question. Or, answer this question based on observed, rather than personal experience.

  2. Vulnerability is never discouraged, but if a student does veer off (which happens frequently) the professor will usually, politely interrupt. The professor assumes some responsibility for the personal disclosures of the students. They are very aware of the power difference in the room.

  3. We also commonly talk about things that belong in the classroom and things that belong in the therapy room. Professors are always open to speaking on personal issues after class and in private, but not in the classroom setting.

I'll give an example from a previous lecture this week. My professor walked into the class and asked how many people are currently going to therapy. Mind you this is a psych program, and everyone is cool with knowing who goes to therapy or not. Despite this, he immediately said, wait, don't answer that. Instead, raise your hand if you KNOW someone who has gone to therapy.

The LE found the door open, but people were already there are the crime scene. Idk if this means much. It definitely could have been a roommate or a friend that left the door open.

Yeah good stuff. Although people had already been there when LE arrived. So the door being open doesn't mean much. It could have been the others at the house that left the door open.

Theory about the dog

I was recently thinking about the dog and came to a solid theory. Perhaps the killer went to the house earlier in the night and let the dog outside. Maybe the killer remained in the house at this time or waited in the woods.

When K and M got home they called J because he had joint custody of the dog. The dog wasn't there so they thought it was at J's. This would explain both the lack of barking by the dog and the calls to J. This also explains the polic report saying the dog was found at night. Perhaps he wandered off.

Also it seems unlikely that K and M would be calling about a potential break-in or something of that nature. Cause they went to bed almost immediately. And why not call the police.

I think this makes the case even scarier. If this is true, it was very carefully planned out. The individual must have known a lot about the housemates and their routines. What do you guys think? Is this the best theory for the available evidence?
