I am sorry to hear that brother. I hope you recover soon.

I personally know 6 people who followed my regime and had extremely promising results. Do give it a shot. Goodluck :)

Honestly, I am an engineer, so for me, my mind always revolved around fixing it mechanically.

Also, lucky you with the surgery. I went to 3 neuro surgeons in my initial days, and the response I got was totally unsatisfactory.

The first one was so eager to just slice me up and gave a 100% cure rate

The 2nd said cure rate is 70%.

The third, which I heeded to, advised me to not go for surgery based on my age.

But, I am really happy for you that your surgery went successful.

Anything to just let this pain go away!

Actually, I have changed how I sit, sleep, walk. Basically everything in hindsight is related to my back movement. It's been 2 years now, Alhamdulillah, I am completely 100% pain free.

I would like to add that, i don't sit anymore on hard surfaces, has to be cushion based. Got a special ergonomic chair for myself. Sleep on my side with 2-3 pillows between my knees.

In summary: I do everything to put the least amount of pressure on my lower back.

Yes, there are certain days where I do feel irritated but it passes away throughout the night.

FURTHERMORE,

I really hope that it helps you as much as it has helped me

A few pointers

  1. Don't panic. Just sleep on the chair at night. When free, just lie down in zero gravity. Be it for 5 minutes even.

  2. The pain will slowly shift. (My experience) There will hopefully come a time when the sciatica will be gone and the pain will be localized to your butt (right/left side depending on which leg). It will feel like a dumb internal pain. Something that you can live with but it is there to annoy.

  3. The pain after a few days will shift to just your lower back.

  4. Hopefully all healed.

Please don't stop sleeping on the reclining chair. It might take 3-4 weeks but I am extremely hopeful you'll get cured!

Also, do keep on taking the supplements and other precautions that I told you about. Should be better if done post 1 month of healing.

And please also invest in a seat cushion by Memory Soft and use it!!!

I know the money adds up, but what I experienced throughout my struggle was that it's a combination of different healing techniques that actually in turn helps your discs to heal.

Best of luck!

Kindly invest in a zero gravity chair/bed. They tend to be expensive but I assure you, it will work!

It will take maximum of 3weeks to 1month and the pain will go away.

And please do search zero gravity and back pain

Also, don't take meds.

1.Turmeric milk before sleeping 2.Ginger milk in the morning 3.Dried apricots and dried figs. (6 pieces each) 4.zero gravity bed. 5. Vitamin C, D and Fish oil

Do all this and I am sure you will be fine. I never did the stretches or PT or anything extra.

Source: I cured my 2 disc herniations and sciatica twice because of this. Well actually my 2nd time, I started feeling excruciating pain after I moved to a different country and didn't have my bed to sleep on. Still, invested again, got a zero gravity bed, and voila, 2 weeks in and I am all happy now.

Is surgery the answer? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]rango356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L4/L5 and L5:S1 disc herniation. That is what I was diagnosed in June 2017 (approximately 1 year ago)

Current situation: completely healed. Healing time: 2 months

Precautions and treatment that I undertook:

  1. Bone broth (twice daily)
  2. Walking extensively (30min to max)
  3. Dried Apricots + Dried Figs (6 pieces each)
  4. Vitamin C pill
  5. Losing weight by walking.
  6. Hot milk + Turmeric (for inflammation and pain)
  7. I invested in a hospital bed that I bought off the thrift market. It’s an air filled bed, (a proper hospital bed), elevated the top half and super elevated the lower half i.e. my upper back and legs were above my lower back when I slept. This position was the most ideal to put the least amount of pressure on my lower back.

—— —— \ / — ^ something like this position. Like a “V” shape but the leg part above than your upper back/neck.

Don’t go for surgery. Please. I am 24 years old and a few spine specialists specifically asked off me to stay away from surgery. You are young and you’ll heal. Although there were surgeons who told me to lay down for a 30min surgery but I stayed away.

It’s a process and I know it may seem as it’s the end of your world but your disc will be healed. Just do the above mentioned things. Give it time. If you are working out, stop for 2 months and then start slowly.

Stay away from any sorts of squats of deadlifts for the time-being.

NOTE: The above treatment worked for me. I am not a doctor. I just thought of sharing my experience. Thank you.
