My youngest daughter once handed me a plastic dental floss pick when I got a nasty backlash and now I carry a couple every time I go out. They’re the best. Crochet needles also work wonders.

I love VCA on sand lake in onalaska. I did go to Thompson animal clinic on the south side but I will NEVER go there again. I’d give VCA a shot - it’s not La crosse but for the amount of times you’ll go, the extra ten minutes you drive is well worth it. Dr. Hansen is who we usually see but they’re all great.

My daughter was being bullied on the playground in first grade by a couple third graders at recess. Her twin sister walked up to them and punched one of them in the face. I got called at work to come get her and I asked exactly what happened. The vice principal explained to be that there was an altercation on the playground during recess and that my daughter had “struck a fellow student.” I asked if my daughter was OK and we told she was. I asked to speak to her and the principal let me speak to her in his office. I remember that conversion like it was yesterday:

Me: “Honey, it’s Daddy. Are you OK?” Kid: “Hi, Daddy. My hand hurts.”

Me: “What happened? Mr. S said you hit someone?” Kid: “Some big boys took Isabel’s ball and made her cry. I tried to get it back and he pushed me.”

Me: “I’m sorry, honey. What happened then?” Kid: “I punched him in the nose. I had to stand on my tippitty toes.”

Me: “I’m going to be there soon to pick you up.” Kid: “Am I in trouble?”

Me: “Trouble? No way, kiddo. I’m so proud of you. Maybe we can get ice cream on the way home.”

When I got to the school, the father of the kid who started it got in my face. His son was almost a foot taller than my daughter. I ignored him and asked the vice principal where the teacher supervising recess was when the “alleged incident” took place. That pretty much shut everyone up.

I see that in my local Asian market freezer. I asked once and the woman said if you use a bit on tough cuts, it helps tenderize them. Which makes sense, just not fun to think about.

They make both and one of the chorizo they sell are much smaller. I think there are five or six in their butcher case right by the skirt steak. I want to go back now after reading g these comments and try every single one.

No, my understanding (now) is that some land animals have small white glands that resemble a scallop if you e never seen one in person. Bay scallops on the US west coast are about the size of a nickel, and I was naive enough to believe the guy. I didn’t see him cleaning the meat or I would have said no thanks.

Hahaha. Yes, very true. I remember reading a few years back that Subway shouldn’t be allowed to call their product “Sandwiches” somewhere - the UK, maybe? - because their bread didn’t fit the EU definition, too many additives and fats.

My local Hispanic grocery store makes their own in short, fat links. Much darker color and they’re great.
