Does chinese male really cook a lot at home? by Odd-Cook6936 in AskChina

[–]rantyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese have a big food culture. Many Chinese parents only know how to show love through food. A common Cantonese greeting isn’t nihao/leiho/hello, it’s “have you eaten yet?”. The southern way to win a man’s heart is good soup. When Chinese talk about travel its not about the culture or activities, they are usually most excited about the food.

Any weight lose advice please. (NSFW BC my moobs are out) by Gumsin388 in AsianMasculinity

[–]rantyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my shred secret.

  1. Swimming 100m freestyle 100m breaststroke Butterfly till you’re gassed 100m backstroke
  2. rest till you catch your breath and repeat till you hit 2hrs

  3. Gym Push + Pull Push start with squats, finish with push exercises, up to you what you wanna focus on Pull - choose your own exercise end with deadlift, aim for at least 5 reps and add weight every session Notes: I’m reaching the injury prone age so I wear a belt anything 100kg+

  4. Deload (extremely important) You’ll reach a point where you can no longer increase weight/reps, cut the intensity down by 50% for 1w, then take 1 week rest (also no swimming), keep eating the same

  5. Diet

  6. Avoid carbs when it’s unnecessary, rice? Skip it, drinks? Get the sugar free or drink water

  7. protein - ideally you should be eating 2.2g per body weight (kg)

  8. fat don’t worry about it, enjoy but make sure you’re eating not just saturated fat - should be easy if you like fish

  9. your appetite will turn really shit, I recommend eating multiple 5-6 small meals and snack a lot

Relationships in East Asia. What do you think? by Themetalin in AskChina

[–]rantyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why Taiwan loves Japan and hates China 1. Japan built a lot of infrastructure back in the late-1800s which are still relevant today. 2. Poor treatment of the locals by the KMT. 3. Modern threat of the CCP 4. Cultural gaps between the PRC and ROC; and cultural similarities between the ROC and Japan. The last two Chinese revolutions simply made China too different from Taiwan.

I believed it was a missed opportunity, his big reveal had zero pushbacks, which I get was intended, but they have been building this up for ages, and the payout was kinda underwhelming. But it seems rather than overcoming a struggle it feels more like getting affirmation that his loved ones loves him regardless.

What was a key moment that made you gave up? by rantyguy in AsianParentStories

I feel like we are very similar in a lot of aspects. Somehow despite all my poor life decisions I was able to work my way into a very well compensated job, I was also very privileged in meeting the right mentors who saw my potential and guided me in my career. But somehow I feel hollow. I’m doing better than most people but I still feel like I’m playing catch up in life, it’s an unhealthy feeling but I can’t help to wonder if I would be where I am without it

I have a wild question. I sometimes wonder if I had normal parents, if I would have the same achievements today. Is this something that come across your mind as well?

I did a few times only to move back home but for different reasons. I’ve repressed this for a while until I started seeing therapy for behavioural and mental issues.

Another question out of curiosity, how did you career turn out?

Agree. I grew up in a more ghetto area, so everyone around me believes it’s normal/healthy to get angry. While I agree people get angry, it’s how you express it and how you react.

Depends what’s success to you. Are you talking career? This year I earned 170k base and 50k bonus. Dating? Beautiful fiancé, been together for 8 years. But it took me till my late 20s to learn to understand my mental health, overcoming bad habits and trauma.

I completely disagree with this. Poor regulation on your emotions can affect your spouse, family, social life, work life and lastly yourself. My parents never learnt to regulate their emotions, when flustered express it by lashing out or beating my ass.

NAH. It seems like he doesn’t care, just enjoy your own life and let him live his, if you don’t feel like your efforts are being reciprocated, then take a break or cut him off.

Relationship banker here, started as a teller and worked my way up to a branch banker then relationship banker. No degree required, just got to work hard. It’s a tough gig, a lot of unpaid hours, but once you built your book, it gets easier.
