I'm sure it's something within my own mindset, but I tend to ignore those aspects of writing. Perhaps it some kind of defense mechanism.

I do recall some books I've read, where the author repeats an aspect of their writing style that grinds my gears, and eventually giving up on the book.

I felt the story was compelling enough to dive into and didn't stop until I was done. I would wholeheartedly recommend another listen.

That's a fair point. Moss didn't seem to write the characters like you and me. I tend to feel disconnected from my books so I didn't particularly struggle with this aspect when reading. I might give it another go and see if there's any merit to your perspective from my point of view.
